Fox Sports Midwest reports the news the St. Louis Cardinals have placed first baseman Matt Adams on the 15 day disabled list with inflammation on his left shoulder. It is not certain in Adams will be able to return to the starting lineup when he is eligible since it is not clear how severe is his injury to his left shoulder. Brandon Moss will replace Adams as the starting first baseman of the Cardinals for the time being. The Cardinals have promoted from their AAA minor league team the Memphis Redbirds outfielder Randal Grichuk to replace Adams on their 25 man active roster.
