Why did Jesus urge his disciples to pray for God's Kingdom?

Is there a need for God's Kingdom? What will God's Kingdom accomplish? Most people do not even realize that God's Kingdom is a real heavenly based Government in the hands of God's son and appointed King, Jesus Christ (Matthew 6:9,10)

Perhaps Jesus urged them to pray for the kingdom so they'd remember what was TRULY important. "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." Matthew 6:21 Right?

That is absolutely correct Genipher and Jesus also asked his followers to pray for God's Kingdom to come because he knew that God's Kingdom is the only solution to mankind's ills. Jesus, being the King designate, knew/knows that the Kingdom will restore things back to God's original purpose for the earth and obedient mankind before Adam and Eve sinned.
