Favorite One-Off Band's #8 - Germs

#8 in my Favorite One-Band's series, or band's that only made one album, belongs to legendary punk band Germs. Led by vocalist Darby Crash and guitarist Pat Smear (who would later play with both Nirvana and Foo Fighters,) Germs formed in Los Angeles in 1977. The band effectively ended when then-22 year-old Crash committed suicide via heroin overdose. Despite reunion's and tours led by Smear, the Germs managed just one studio album, 1979's (Gi), which was produced by Joan Jett. Even with only one proper record under their belts, the chaotic Germs remain one of punk's most influential bands. When I was in high school, Colorado Springs' college station did an afternoon punk show, for which I would hurry home so that I could listen. Germs were in regular rotation.

There is a 2007 movie called What We Do is Secret which is the story of the Germs. It starred Shane West whom you might know from the TV series Salem and Nikita. I have seen it and wrote a review a long time ago.
