A few months ago my husband and I bought a house in a retirement community that is really beautiful and everyone so friendly. The house is in good shape but does need some TLC.
Today I started painting the guest bathroom. The master bath is okay for awhile. I am not fond of the colors but it is doable for awhile.
The guest bathroom is smaller so I guess it hits me more. Every time I go in there I get stressed. We finally bought paint and it has a primer in it and is so much thicker than I am use to.
I have been looking at different designs and cannot come up with anything so I decided to paint it all white and make a blank canvas of the situation. Hopefully something will hit me and I can continue finishing the room.

When we buy a house I say 'we' but I noticed you said your husband bought a house - were you not involved in the decision? Just curious since it sounds like you don't care for it much.

@ramapo17 That's better - I thought you were going to live someplace you hated.

@LadyDuck I am seeing the same thing now that we are into it. We painted everything white and the room started to grow before our eyes. When we see something we like we will add finishing touches. I like some of the colorful tiles that I might put in certain spots in the room.
We have to go buy the floor tiles this week. Again, I wanted to see the walls and how my mind is going to go before buying anything.

Try to visit pinterest and then search for home decors. You will find interesting design ideas there. I usually run to pinterest when my mind goes blank. I usually get all the answers from there.

@crazyhorseladycx That sounds great. I love different things. My husband usually complains when I do crazy things. Being we are both retired he is around me everyday so I can't start to many weird things.

I was always a person that had dramatic walls. I had huge walls that were all white so I put up big beautiful murals. I had 3 giant ones on one house. I loved them but my husband didn't. Everyone that went in the house liked them.
This house I cannot do them as I don't have any solid big, big walls.

It is a small bathroom so I knew we could do it. I always liked doing house repairs and painting. I have been doing it since I was a teenager. It is my therapy. Besides painting walls and inside the houses I also like to draw and paint figurines. Anything artistic I always loved.

@Shiva49 Thank you. Sometimes I go through periods of not doing anything artistic and then I get involved and I can keep it up for months. I recently repainted all my gnomes for my garden. I have had them for years and they needed a new paint job. I have one big one left and then I need to find another project after the bathroom is done.

Right. I think once I get it all white I will find something.

White will probably make the room look bigger and you can decorate with a variety of colors or pictures

White is a safe bet for now. You can always come up with something later. Some times you just need something to inspire you and then you can come up with an idea. It will come to you!
