Some time back, a dear friend here asked if'n I could get a picture 'f a Mockingbird. Such proved to be a dauntin' task 's the months passed by'n none appeared longer'n a brief moment. Somethin' 'bout triple digit heat 'n lack 'f rains... This fine specimen didn't seem interested'n a photo op, but I thought that such showed off 'ts colorin' quite well. There....short 'nough fer ya folks?

I remember a song long ago about waking up in the morning to the mocking bird's trill. I have never seen or heard a mocking bird in England nor in Greece. Perhaps they are unique to the USA. do you know why they have such a strange name?

@crazyhorseladycx I saw my first jays in a couple years finally here, they seem to be few and far between. Here's the video, almost couldn't find it...it's a bit blurry, but you can hear him real good. This was outside the office at work, I wish we were still in that area because he was around every spring while we were there for a few years.

he was off to fight with 'nother bird, lol. i'm tellin' ya, this's not been a good summer fer me to get great pic's 'f most any critters 'round these parts. i'd thought 'twas the oppressive month 'f july, when the temps were'n the triple digits fer 98% 'f the time. perhaps 'tis jest the gal 'hind the camera bein' too slow these days :)

@crazyhorseladycx they drove our cats nuts as they wanted cat hair to weave in their nests poor cats the bird would dive yank cat hair off the cat's backs then flew off to build their nests.

yes ma'am, they're purty skinny lil birds - prolly coz they're near constant fightin' with others, lol. 'n not jest their fellow feathered foes. the cat 'tis frightened to come out from 'nder the porch since they've returned, poor dear. i'd been watchin' this bird fer 'bout an hour?? 'bout the time i'd get't focused, it'd take off like a bullet'n all i wound 'p with 'twas jest a blur, lol. thanks!

Impressive photo!!! We had a resident mockingbird in Alabama that had it in for our cats. It would tease and dive bomb, but we didn't really think the creature was evil until it started hopping about out in the middle of our rather busy street in an attempt to lure one of our kittens out into traffic...had we not been watching it probably would have worked too.

thanks, ms. joanne! yepperz, they're purty crafty 'n if'n they've a nest nearby they'll e'en peck ya'n the head. cats 're their sworn enemies. the one here 'twas bein' tortured by such earlier this morn. so glad that y'all were able to rescue that kitten :)
