Not going to be around much

Canada

I'm going to be cycling home from work today. The math works out in my favour. Writing on myLot would at best get me fifty cents. Taking the time to cycle home will save me four or five dollars of gasoline. Now that I have functional bike again this is possible. The bike is ready but I still have to transfer the fenders from my old all weather bike and the rear rack. Those two items will make a big difference for me. I also have to find or buy a new taillight. I ride in the dark sometimes and that is a must have. Image is a painting my wife did of the family on bicycle tour. Will be seeing everyone later in the weekend.

I don't have to battle much traffic on my route. I just have to not run into anything or fall off.

Hubby was doing something similar earlier this year. He can ride the bus for free, so rather than taking our gas-hog of a van, he got up extra early to take the bus to work and home again. Saved us quite a bit in gas money.

If that was an option for me I'd do it in a heartbeat. Cost of gasoline has been murder on our budget.

@Genipher 10 plus miles is a pretty heavy haul on a bike. Distance for me is 12.5 miles roughly one way. That is the outside of my commuting range with a full time job. He'd have to work his way up to that distance and it would still be too hard day in and day out. I'm just trying to get into good enough shape to do it when it would save the most money. In other words any trip to town that is only required by me. I would go tomorrow but my wife will be coming by with the weekly shopping anyway.

@koopharper Hubby tried a bike at first. But work is 10+ miles away and after one trip there and back, he wasn't up for it anymore. It would be a great way to get healthier and stronger, though.

Sometimes you have to weigh the economics of time management.

Been trying to do that. I think myLot is worth the effort but I can't be here all the time.

We have this one hanging in our home. We were riding in St. Polycarpe, Quebec at the time the original photo was taken. She painted from that.

The painting is great. Peddling a bike is so much better than myLot in health as well as saving the $4.

My wife does great work. Thanks. Pedaling is a lot healthier than sitting scrunched behind a computer.

Enjoy your biking to work as the weather should be pretty decent for awhile. Not only will you save money but it's probably good exercise too. Love the painting your wife did...she's very talented

Thank you. I only have to make the return trip. It is twenty kilometers which I see as the limit of my two way commuting by bicycle. Weather permitting same scenario plays out for Sunday.

It is nice to use a bike, you can save on gas and help protect the environment too. Yes, you should have tail lights when biking at night. Just keep safe.

No night riding today. I'll be home before dark.
