Did You Ever Attend One of Your High School Class Reunions?

I have been to several of my high school class reunions and found them very enjoyable. I attended a very small high school and there were less than fifty students in my senior class. I was surprised that 21 of them showed up for the 50th class reunion. Some from our class have passed away and others just didn’t show up for whatever reasons. A few came all the way from across the country and some who still lived in the area did NOT come. It was nice to see everyone. Being such a small school, we were all friends. It was nice to catch up on their lives and find out their email addresses. We took some pictures and enjoyed seeing each other again. I actually got to sing with the band, like I used to when I was in high school and all my classmates were so excited about hearing me sing again. The photo is from the reunion.

That is an awesome picture. I actually just attended my 35th High School a month ago. We try to get together every 5 years. It was a lot of fun. I got to see so many people that I hadn't seen since high school which was great. We even got to go on a tour of our old high school which was a trip down memory lane. This is only my second high school reunion I attended. I went to my 10th and that was it. I regretted missing the rest of them so I made sure I attended this one and I glad that I did.

@Happy2BeMe Thank you for listening to my song. And thank you for the compliment. In the photo, I'm in the back row. 5th from the left. I have on a black blouse and my hair is all white. It looks blond but I think its a reflection from the light fixture.

I attended one in 2009. This year we will have another high school reunion on the 30th of December.

Are you planning to go? Ours is always on Memorial Day week-end. I did not go this past year. I don't know if I will ever go again. It's in another state and I'm getting too old to drive all that way by myself. I would like to go back to my home town and visit some cousins that I still have living there.

@rina110383 It's about six hours away. My daughter took me to my 50th reunion. She and her husband went with me and we enjoyed a nice weekend, visiting the area. She would probably do it again. My son also said that he wouldn't mind going to visit the area again. I just don't know if its worth the trip, or how many of my class mates would actually show up. It will be 58 years next May since I graduated. I will be 75 years old by then. So, not too many of my classmates would come. There might be a few that would come for the 60th, but I may not make it that far.

@IreneVincent Yes, I will attend this year's reunion. How far is it from your place in terms of driving hours? I wish you could find someone who could drive you to your hometown, probably your children or grandchildren.

Absolutely not. I was bullied in school and I never want to see those people again.

That happens a LOT. I didn't have any bullies in high school at all, but I did have children in elementary school make fun of my birthmarks. I will have to write a post about that, but here is a picture of me. Notice the white marks on my legs and the white mark on my forehead.. You may have already noticed the white streak in my hair in my profile photo. I was BORN with these birthmarks and there are others in my family who also have them.

It sounds like you had a great time. I have never been to any of my high school reunions and have no desire to. My high school graduating class had almost 800 students. It's hard to imagine being a part of a class with only 50 students where everyone knows each other. I have a feeling it was probably kind of nice.

Yes, it was a small school and everyone got along well. Things were different 50 years ago. If you would like to hear me sing, I'm on YouTube. It's not a video, just audio and it's not perfect, by any means. I had it recorded on a DVD one night singing at a karaoke bar. Here's the link:

Good photo! No, I haven't been to one. I always assumed nobody would know who I was, because I was so reserved in school (and a hellion when school was out, lol.) BUT since then I have discovered my high school friends really do remember me. I have some of them on Facebook and it was wonderful to find them. We had a huge class in a crowded high school in San Jose, so it was somewhat different than in a small school where everyone knows everyone. In my next life, I'll be friendlier, lol. That's great that you're a singer and got to do that in school. I used to sing with my guitar accompaniment, lately I find my voice is a horrible croak. Postnasal drip doesn't help lol. But honestly I hadn't sung for years, so I wonder if something happens to the vocal chords. You might know the answer to that question.

I'm glad you got to make contact with some of your friends from high school. My vocal chords are OK but I'm now short of breath and that presents a problem for me. You know that Shania Twain had vocal chord problems? And a friend of mine had the same thing. She had to get injections into her vocal chords. Yikes. If you want to hear me sing. I'm on YouTube. It's not a video, just the audio of me singing "Crazy" written by Willie Nelson and made famous by Patsy Cline. This was recorded one night at a karaoke bar a couple years ago in Virginia Beach. I've been trying to get some of my friends on myLot to go listen. I made a bet with my son that I could get 100 views and several mylotters helped me win my bet along with some of my family and friends. Here is the link:

How nice that you were able to sing for your fellow students. I've been to several reunions now and always enjoy them.

@IreneVincent I did, I went to my 10 year class reunion. I went to school in a different state than I live in now so it has been a stuggle to get to any of the reunions.

I live in a different state, but it's not that far away. Our class reunions are always on Memorial Day week-end. I did not go this year.

I'm sorry that high school brings up bad memories for you. I enjoyed my high school years a lot. No bad memories for me, although I do remember some embarrassing things.
