Marc Topkin reports the news on Friday the Tampa Bay Rays have designated for assignment outfielder Oswaldo Arcia the day he was activated from the 15 day disabled list. Arcia had a batting average of .259 in over 61 plate appearances with the Rays after he was traded by the Minnesota Twins on June 24, 2016 in exchange for cash considerations and a player to be named later which may been a reason the Rays decided to release him on Friday. Arcia had been placed on the 15 day disabled list on July 29 with a strain on his right elbow. Since Arcia is 25 years of age, it is possible that he will land on his feet with another team in the Major Leagues soon probably as a reserve player since so far he has been an underachiever playing in the Major League Baseball level since he made his debut with the Twins in 2013.

You are right that he will likely be picked up by another organization as he is just 25.

Even though Oswaldo has not been the can't miss player he was supposed to be.
