Enjoyed Pokeno at the Senior Center

After our therapeutic exercise class yesterday afternoon, we stayed to play Pokeno at the Senior Center. In case you have never played Pokeno, it is basically Bingo but has playing cards instead of numbers.
It cost us $1 to play and there were prizes for each game. Those seniors are serious players. We didn't win a thing, lol . It was a fun afternoon though and they offered coffee, iced tea and cookies and cupcakes. Not a bad deal of $1 each!!
We have also signed u for an Italian Ice Social next Wednesday. It also cost $1.
We can enjoy lunch at the senior center Monday-Friday for $2 each. I looked at their menu and was pretty impressed. I think we are going to try it just to see what it is like and to enjoy the company.
For $3 we are taking a bus trip to the Yale Art Museum. I have been to the British Art Museum before and it is lovely. Lunch is on our own but there is a bookstore with a great cafe next door. We certainly could drive their ourselves by who want to drive in a city if they don't have to? Not me!!
I think being a senior is turning out to be quite entertaining. lol
The senior center is located in the elementary school that I attended from K-6 grade so it is like coming home.

@BelleStarr I'm never bored either, I always have a pot on the fire, I wish my better had hobbies, but he keeps up with all sports.

I think you should, they do cooking classes, have book clubs and knitting and crochet groups, and tons of other things.

@BelleStarr Oh, I would love all of that. I wonder if the provide some kind of transportation for people who don't have cars. I'm going to check online and see what I can find close to me.

that's wonderful they've so many activities 'n that such costs so lil. too bad y'all didn't win any prizes, but the pleasure 'f others company :)
i'm with ya, i'd not wish to drive neither 'n $3 bucks's no doubt cheaper'n cab fare, eh?

Oh m,y cab fare down to Yale would be $100 we live at least 25 miles away maybe more. We drive everywhere usually but I don't like driving into New Haven the traffic is awful.

@BelleStarr when we'd a taxi service here'n town (short-lived fer some reason), they charged $40 jest to take ya 12 miles, lol. i'm feelin' ya'n that traffic. i avoid town 's much 's possible. seems many folks need to go back to drivin' school...'r jest not get 'hind the wheel 't all.

I'm glad you enjoyed your time at the centre ... and sounds like you've got some more good events in the future too... I'm glad they have a good resource like that in your area for seniors... and such good value for money too....

Ours offers local transportation, you might be surprised to find out you could be picked up for activities.
