Is there a pill for heartaches?

A friend is nursing a broken heart and for two weeks now, I've been the only person he really talks to outside of work. And he's miles and miles away from me. Thank goodness for Viber. Today, he's in such bad mood again and is in terrible pain. I wish I could do more for him, but we both know I couldn't, other than cheering him up with my funny messages once in awhile. He can't seem to survive the day without talking to me these days. He sends me a message the moment he wakes up at 5:30 in the morning and we'd talk until it's time for me to sleep and he'd ask me to message him as soon as I get up which I do. If only there was a pill to nurse a broken heart, i would have sent it to him a long time ago. How do you cope with yours?

I plan to stay single so coping with a broken heart is not something I'll have to deal with

@Mike197602 You had a good hard look at yourself... I think it's always wise to learn from our mistakes. To commit the same mistake over and over again is stupidity. You don't do well in relationships?

@toniganzon in some ways I think I am wise. I've been around the block a few times and like to think I've learned from my mistakes and also have had a good hard look at myself. I know I don't do too well in a relationship so have decided not to get into one

@allen0187 listened with him. We both enjoyed the music. The answer is NO to your question. That's something evil that I'd never do to a friend.

Dear brother. Somebody else did break his heart and his family is fed up with all his depression and complaints. He's wallowing in self pity.

I went through a hard time coping up with a broken heart . It was for four months , that i would always wake up crying at night . I coped up by finding a job and that is this job . I gained my confidence back and healed fast .

Keeping ourselves busy is really the best distraction and promotes fast healing. Four months! That was really long. I couldn't remember any moment that I've been in a really terrible heartache for too long.

Of my broken heart experiences in life, I did well to leave them behind rather quickly. I am not sure what the key to that was, except maybe the fact that there was always something exciting around the next corner to help me forget. You are a good friend to your friend Toni.

Lucky you, there's always a next one to help you forget. A big distraction is a great way. I have learned to overcome a broken heart by keeping myself busy all the time. That way i don't have the time to even recall that sad moment in my life. Pain can be suffocating.

There are none but also a heart. Heartbroken needs friendship and comfort from a family, that more than the effect of the pill. Besides, pill are just chemical and family are relatioship.

I am sorry to hear about your friend. What you have been doing is good because I believe you can make his burden lighter. Friends are really our treasures. I cannot imagine life without them. I am trying to do many things when I am in a depression stage. Sometimes, I will visit a friend. Sometimes, I will read a book. Sometimes I will watch a TV. Healing a broken heart takes time. I hope that your friend will be able to overcome that depression soon.

@toniganzon Yes, it is. It is a very slow process, especially if the wound that was made was very deep.

Thank you. I hope the same for him. We all know that time heals all wounds but we just don't know for how long we have to endure. Keeping ourselves busy is a good distraction.

I am sorry to hear. Did he just get out of a relationship? But hey.... speaking to someone from the time you wake up to sleep - you may develop some feelings, no?!

You did not tell us the cause, anyway I think broken hearts have different degrees of breakages, if we think of a cure we have to think of. It as an ailment so there's chronic, acute, curable and sad to say incurable.

And we all know thinking happy thoughts during depressing moments couldn't easily take the pain away. If it were that easy, there won't be anybody suffering from depression anymore.

@toniganzon I know I was just saying it helps me I suffer from depression but try not to show it. Also it doesn't take the pain away but does help distract from it, sometimes I find being distracted is better than feeling it if that makes sense

Only time can heal him and Im sure one day he'll find a new inspiration if he can muster enough courage to go on in his life. It's never too late as long as we live, I mean look at the guy who has no arms and legs, he even got married with a kid.

He's 45. He's been in relationships in the past that didn't work too. It's easy to say time heals all wounds. The question is when. It's never a good thing to find another relationship as a rebound. I think it's best to stay single for as long as you can and when the pain is all gone before starting a new one.

Our time difference is 12 hours. When he's at work, we talk during the first few hours till I go to sleep and he keeps himself busy. Then I wake up by the time he gets home and we talk before he goes to bed.

How I wish I could tell you the name of the pill but there is no pill to fight a broken heart. He has to do something which keep him busy like going to a gym. Body building, badminton and any workout will help ease the pain.
