When we need help these days we pretty much know who to call. Our grandson Alex. He is 22 almost 23 years old, He works full time, he is in an apprenticeship so works long hours. He will be a Tool and Die man when he is done.
Yesterday, Al was having trouble with the new hose for the pool filter. I sent Alex a text at work and asked him if he could stop over after work. He said yes but he was going to Cabelas right after work and then he would be over.
He came even earlier than I expected and within a few minutes he had helped his grandpa solve the problem. I offered to take him out to dinner for thank him. He loves Chinese so we went off to try out a new restaurant in the next town.
He just called me tonight to tell me he will be over tomorrow to take something to the dump for grandpa. we are so blessed to have this grandson to help us.
Who do you call when you need help at your house?
The picture is Alex and his little brother Jack!!

@MarymargII lol My daughter's 5 boys all look very much alike, Jack is just a smaller, younger version of Alex lol I was a grandmother when I was 38.

@BelleStarr I had kids a little later (in my early thirties) so do not have many grandkids... so wonderful you get that kind of help from a young man like that- They both look sweet together!

I love reading discussions about your grandsons, they are so rich with love.
And this one is no different.
You've done a fantastic job raising your own children and co-raising your grandchildren that they can be relied upon like this
Our son is our go to person for help, if my husband cannot figure it out, and funny enough, our son calls on Dad when he cannot figure something out or when he wants a helping hand getting a job done. They work well together and have a lot of fun in the process.

@Juliaacv lol He will indeed have some big shoes, with 4 older brothers. Josh is the closest in age at 9 years older.

@BelleStarr There being the age difference between Jack and his older brothers, he'll have some pretty big shoes to fill when the older ones leave the nest and have their own yards and homes to tend to. I hope that little pip is paying attention!

Unfortunately, hubs just can't solve problems anymore. Parkinson's is a funny disease and it does affect how you think. He used to be able to figure anything out but not now.

Yes I wish we had a condo at least where the outdoor work would be taken care of.

@BelleStarr That would be nice, wouldn't it? I don't do yardwork anymore but I wouldn't mind a little gardening.

I'm in rented property so my landlords are responsible for any maintainance or changes to the property - they are coming in the next few days to put book shelves in for me and finish carpeting up my bathroom

That is great your grandson is so responsible and helpful to you. My husband is real handy and does those things around the house that breaks or needs repairing.

Your grandson sounds like a very handy guy to have around. I try to handle a lot of stuff myself. My grandfather is a good resource for advice, even if he's unable to do many physical activities.

I used to have my brothers too but now one is in Atlanta and one is in Vermont. My sons and son-in-law are all handy too but often very busy.

@BelleStarr I'm sure that makes you appreciate your grandson even more, since the other family isn't around as much.
