You Could Knock Me Over With a Feather

I was sitting here this morning with my hot cup of coffee and ready to myLot for awhile when the phone rang. Lo and behold it was the rehab facility where my mom is and they told me that they are ready to discharge her on the 1st of Sept. What?????????? After a fairly long discussion with the therapist and social workers it looks like my mom will be coming home on Thursday. I have no idea how this is going to work but at this point I guess it will be a wait and see how it works out game plan. It really threw me for a loop (to say the least) and once again, life changes in a nano second. I"m willing to give it a try and I'm hoping that we'll be able to get some home help through Medicare when she comes home. Otherwise, I'll literally be up the creek. My daughter will be leaving her job on Friday and only traveling to NY 2 days a week so at least she'll be here for some added help. Life always has a way of working out so I have to have faith that this is the path we're meant to be on. Isn't life crazy!!

OH man I hope it all works out. It turned out this last time my dad can't be rehabbed to come home. So we are having to switch him from Medicare to Medicaid to cover his residency. It's all so hard. He is 97 and has many problems, poor guy. And my poor mom.

She can use a walker & do some things for herself but I'm not sure about stairs since we have two floors & her bedroom is upstairs

@Marilynda word of warning when you do get home help you need to always check up on the aide to make sure she is doing everything right especially if your mom needs to take medication. Years ago when I still lived in NYC a friend has an aide taking care of her mom and she soon discovered that the aide wasn't feeding her mom right and wasn't giving her meds at the right times. Then they switched aides and everything went just right. So be alert then if everything works out you can relax. I hope everything goes well for you and I am sure your mom will feel so much better being at home.

Even though things seem chaotic life has a way of working itself out. I believe that All things work together for good of those who love God and are called according to his promises. Rom 8:28

I know that you have been dreading this, but I'm pleased that your daughter will be there to help. You never know, things may turn out better than you think. Good luck.

I do hope that it works out well for both you and your mom. Maybe you can get a visiting nurse.

I can believe you were knocked for six. I do hope this works out but it's surprising sometimes how things seem to come together in the long run.

That is a huge change if you were not expecting that. Take care Someone else today was collecting idioms. Your title could have added to that discussion!
