Time to put that refund money to good use

Instead of blowing that thousand dollar refund on odds and ends, we will be putting it to good use.
There is a butcher shop that we shopped at a while ago. It's over an hour from here and we'll be heading there today. We much rather spend more on meat that we can chew compared to spending it on tough meat at the local grocery stores. Not fun when your husband spends time cooking a steak perfectly only to bit into it and realize it's only good for the trash can. That happens more frequently than you can imagine.
From there we will be heading to the Shrimp Dock (Seafood Shop) very close to the butcher shop. They get fresh shrimp from the east coast daily so we'll be there when their doors open. My husband is anxious for more crawfish and we'll pick up some scallops and other goodies. We have shopped there several times so we know what to expect.
Time to get the big cooler and ice packs out and hit the road to good eating.
Photo is mine.

@Jessicalynnt we didn't buy in bulk.... we bought individual steaks at the per pound price. We only want certain cuts.

@AbbyGreenhill Farm chickens have another taste. I remember when my grandmother grew chickens, it is true that you do not appreciate those you buy at the grocery store.

We got lots of beef and so much so they gave us a free chicken - man said once I try his chicken I'll never buy grocery store chicken again. 8 pounds of shrimp, 4 lobster tails, and some other seafood. Freezer is full and we're set for several months.

All that we got will be good we know that so the dog won't be getting any, nor will the trash can.

Enjoy,It`s a shame to buy a cut of meat you`re looking forward to eating only for it to end at the trash can.

@celticeagle I could kill for a store that close that made good stuff. There is a bakery called Tellico Grains in a town called Tellico Plains - they make really good stuff, but then again it's an hour or more round trip - up a mountain to boot.

I think by using the refund to me it's like we didn't spend the money...the nice cottage owner did LOL and we spent wisely. Still have lots left.

Canned meat - no way. I don't even like canned veggies. Meat is in the freezer. Who would want to eat a twenty dollar stead that has been canned...no point in that.

There are only a few stores you can buy decent meat around here, around I mean within a few hours...so we're happy to have this place even at an hour and fifteen minutes one way.

We love fresh seafood and love it when we are in the south. We buy meat right from the farm,. It is worth paying a bit more for good food.

We bought meat directly from a processing plant down the road from us - it was God awful...tough - They only butcher one cow a month - we tried several different months and the meat was worse than the stores.
