Why Do You Have To Tell Them Your Phone Number?

I've been ordering "free" samples on different site and I always wonder why do they need your phone number( other than to give it out to advertisers?) I mean, I'm on the computer and I give my email address, besides my address, now they want my phone number? I THINK NOT!! Now, not only have I run into giving my phone number out (which if they ask I'll leave it blank) there is a writing site then when you sign up for it you have to give them your phone number! Now, why do I have to give them my phone number? The site says for safety purposes or to call you to let you know that you will be paid. Um, excuse me, but you can email me, you don't need my phone number. Besides my husband uses our phone for his work!! I write to the site and asked ,so if you don't have a phone number for them to call you at, you don't get paid? I got a response back for me to be patient that they're working on changing that. Hmmmmm ~Peace~ photo courtesy of pixabay

If you are having products sent to your home a phone number would be good to have if they had problems. A phone number also is used to identify you as a real person.

I hope they will allow you to write there without giving your number. I leave my phone number blank if I can as well or sometimes I will type the area code, first three digits and 0000.

I made the mistake of giving out my mobile number. I've had to install an app on it now that blocks negative rated calls, I was getting so many.

You can give the phone number of your hated neighbor instead so he or she will get a lot of telemarketer calls while you will get your samples.

Yeh. I'm not doing any work for any site that requires my phone number. We already get way too many calls that we don't want. I think it is weird that site would have to call to tell you you'll be paid. I bet they are selling the numbers.
