We got a prize for driving so far to the butcher shop

When we got to Mother Earth Meats we knew what we wanted. We had their NY Strip Steak a few months ago and we planned to stock up. They only had three in the display case but the man, who we assume is the owner, said he could cut whatever we wanted - and so he did. We mentioned that we had driven over an hour and fifteen minutes to shop there....that comment paid off later. We wound up getting 8 Strip Steaks, a Rib Eye and a Eye Round Roast. Not only was all the meat trimmed he asked if we wanted them vacuum sealed and we said 'yes' since we had planned to do that when we got home. So by him doing that we saved time and we saved vacuum sealer bags, plus each one was labeled so we won't have to guess what's in there. As he rang everything up at the small register area we chatted about their meats he asked if we liked chicken. I said it is my favorite but my husband not so much. He said, "Since you drove so far to come here I'm going to give you some 'free' free-range chicken. You'll never buy grocery store chicken again after you eat it." We thought that was very nice and we thanked him and said we will be back in a few months. After that we went to the Shrimp Dock for the seafood. Once home we spread out our goodies on the counter. Only then did I check the chicken - it was a whole chicken and the price on the tag is thirteen dollars. We have enough seafood for months, but we probably will head back to Mother Earth Meats before the Christmas holidays. Photo is mine.

You are so right. And I would certainly recommend this butcher shop to everyone since they really care and do it right.

@CaptAlbertWhisker No gravy - not a gravy fan at all. Meat can't be well done - it has to have some pink in the middle. I ate well done all my life growing up since that's how my father cooked meat. We had corn but no starch.

My husband has a super duper fancy dancy grill and it cooked one of those steaks perfectly yesterday - nice and juicy and real flavor w/o any seasonings.

The meats purchased at a butcher shop is 100 times better than that at a grocery store. We have a butcher shop near us but it's only open Friday and Saturdays. We will be stopping by there on Friday.

We had issues at the rental cottage for vacation a few weeks ago - the owner promised a full refund - that was over a thousand dollars and we got the money - therefore, free money to spend on meat/
