It's Done - All Moved

It's been a very hectic week. As such my diet has been junk food , but that is over now. The move is done. I have everything done and the house inspection was this morning instead of yesterday. You never know the friends you have until one steps up and goes above and beyond. It was suggested that I get some help from a homeless shelter to help with the move. Someone is always looking for work and I was offering payment. No one was available. I wanted to get help from a moving company, but my son negated that, so I canceled the order I made. It was very expensive anyway. However, my friend with the truck promised me two hours and gave me all of yesterday and this morning. I called the woman who was going to do the house inspection to find out how late she could do it yesterday, and she said she could do it this morning, first thing. When it looked like even that would be impossible, my son suggested I call and see if we could have it this afternoon. So I left a message shortly after midnight when we called a halt to the move. We only had the basic clean-up left and a few boxes left to move. I got a call from her shortly after 6 this morning that the locksmith would be there to change locks at 9:30 and that was the latest she could give me - just one hour. So I called my friend who was to pick me up this morning since my son had the car, and we got over to the house and got the last of the clean-up done. We had three hours, but it turned out to be four before everything was completely out of the house and it was in 'broom-swept' condition. She showed up right on time, but the locksmith hadn't arrived yet when we finally pulled out of the driveway at 10:30. I did have other help through the past three days, friends of my son's who came to help get things taken care of. There was so much more than I expected and it took a lot longer than I expected, but the good news - It's Done. Now I have a full apartment of boxes that need to be unpacked as soon as possible. It's also possible that I'll still be downsizing even from what I've already done. My friend stuck with me from early yesterday through this afternoon when we finally had all the move complete and all the garbage taken care of. She is a friend who went above and beyond anything I expected. Currently, my son has my car. His plans for today were to get out to the college and see about getting signed up for classes. It's the last day he could do so as classes start tomorrow. He also has work tonight. I hope he got some sleep as he has helped get this move done on almost no sleep. I also got more sleep today after I got back to the apartment with everything done. It's been an exhausting week with little sleep, no pool and only junk food. Tomorrow I will be back on track with my diet, but the pool will wait until Friday as I have an early morning appointment. Now we can both take a step back, take a deep breath and know it's all done. I can also take my time to get the boxes unpacked, though I will be working on it daily. So that's my good news. I hope your news is good as well. Thanks for reading.

I'm taking it as easy as possible, though I do need to get the unpacking done, especially the kitchen so I can eat. Kind of necessary. That is almost finished now.

Wow! Congratulations on being done. Done is GOOD. I am not looking forward to the next move I make, the older you get the more exhausting it all is.

Yes it is and you need to rely on others to do most of the grunt work. I really felt bad about that.

College kids live on no sleep. I remember a time I did too. Glad that a friend was so good to help you like she did. That is great. So good to hear you are finally done. I bet you will sleep well tonight knowing it is all accomplished. Now for the move in.

@celticeagle Yes I will. I need to buy all new decorations. The tree went to garbage along with a lot of ratty looking decorations. So I can get all new for my new apartment and really make this place look festive.

You're so kind! She's been a friend like none other for me. Even gave me some advice when I took the car in to get it taken care of and saved me $220 bucks as I didn't need new spark plugs and wires. Just did that a year ago. It is a huge relief to have the move done.

Well done! I know how tiresome it is to move in another place. I have done that many times with my hubby. Take a rest every now and then..You can do unpacking slowly. Just get the things what you really need first.

And that would be the kitchen. I have it about finished. I've moved many times myself and always glad when it's over and done with.

No one said moving was easy. it is not all smooth. But it is worth it in the long run. I wish I was moving, really. I am getting tired of this place and the area I am in. I am looking for something more simple and quiet. Good luck with the new place. And don't stress yourself with the unpacking. Do so much a day and it will get done.

Do you see a slim me in there? With everything I still managed to lose another two pounds last week. I'll be back in the pool again tomorrow. It was closed on Saturday and today. Though I did go on Friday.

Isn't it wonderful to have friends? We had friends who helped with our move, too. I divided my boxes into groups ... things that needed to be unpacked right away (like some of my clothes and bathroom things), things that needed to unpacked within a week (like pots and pans), and things I could do at my own pace. Now I have worked my way down to the last group. I also have a stack of boxes of things like books and photo albums that I may not unpack for a really long time!

I agree with your method. My bathroom was taken care of first as it is the most important. My kitchen followed and is now 90% finished. Then I have my office and books to take care of and the rest of my knickknacks to do and it will be done.
