Almost had a panic attack

Well that wasn't fun. I was cooking dinner and all of a sudden I could feel it coming on. . . the shortness of breath, the tightness in my chest, the racing heart. I felt overwhelmed making something that I've made dozens of times. That's when I knew that it was a panic attack lurking right there at the edges and waiting to burst through and take over. Luckily I had enough control of my mind to recognize what was going on and I was able to stop it before things got out of hand. I sat down to calm myself down for awhile and things were fine. Coincidence that this happened the night before I go back to work? Absolutely not. My job causes me an incredible amount of stress and anxiety. This happened for the same reason that I couldn't sleep last night. And people think that teachers have it easy. Hahahahahahahaha

I don't think teachers have it easy, they are loaded down with work. I admire all teachers.

Eek! I am so sorry! Panic attacks are awful. Did you know your body releases adrenaline in 10 minute cycles? So if you can get yourself to be calm and last out that 10 minutes - you can make it!

Doesn't sound like a coincidence to me! Stress can cause anxiety attacks for sure. I have them and so does my daughter. We use essential oils to help control them.

I take meds which is why I was able to stop it. But I don't want to get back into a cycle where it happens several times a week like it used to. I'm hoping this was an anomaly.

I'm sorry that you almost had a panic attack. Glad you got yourself calm again. I have taught and worked with kids for 17 years now so I know some days can be tough. Hopefully your first day back will be wonderful.

I don't think that today's teachers have it easy at all. Way too much "laissez faire" in schools now.
