We're headed to the western part of Canada for #3 in my Favorite Canadian Acts series, Vancouver's Conjure One. Conjure One is an electronic music project from Frontline Assembly/Delerium mainstay Rhys Fulber. Fulber formed Conjure One in 1997, taking a page from the Delerium playbook: lush, sometimes danceable electronic soundbeds with various (usually female) vocalists performing over them. By 2002, Fulber had Conjure One's debut ready, featuring vocal talent from Arabic singer Chemda, Poe, and Sinead O'Connor. Chemda sings in all-Arabic (but handles English vocals in concert as well,) and Poe was breaking her contract by appearing on the album (she was billed as "Jane" on the 2nd album due to this.) Poe handles vocal duties on "Center of the Sun," which reached #3 on the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, although I've gone with the non-danceable album version rather than a 10-minute dance remix. It's a beautiful song. Enjoy!

Very nice. New to me. I'm usually familiar with most Canadian music. Spent the weekend introducing the kids to The Guess Who. They are in agreement that their not being in the rock and roll hall of fame is incomprehensible.

Thanks. As much as I like Fulber, I bought this specifically because of Poe's involvement. Maybe a Poe series is in order.
