Some oddity about losing weight...

You all are aware that I am keen to lose some. And so they say a) Exercise b) Reduce food intake. Which is weird... My logic is... Keep diet constant... Exercise.. When you are down some...then reduce eating some Again keep diet constant Exercise When you lose some weight... reduce eating some Not the other way round... Nor simultaneously...

I have also a few kilos to lose, but I know the secret to lose weight since a long time : about 30 years ago, I got during the summer a terrible toothache, and during a week I could not eat anything else than yogurts and soups. I was working hard on an excavation site, and at the end of the week, I had lost 8 kilos. At this time, I had not a kilo to lose. I was completely exhausted, and I went to see my family doctor who told me : "It is a proof that those saying that they do not eat and are gaining weight are liars." He was speaking of my mother.

Well said, my brother is a doctor and when one of his patients pretend not to lose weight eating nothing he uses to say, you are surely a liar, I have never seen a photo of a fat human in a Nazi camp.

@LadyDuck .. Anna...it is very hard for me to resist pickles...very very hard...or potato chips...or some of the savories we get here...I have pulled myself out of potato chips and savories w.e.f. 1st september, 2016. Not sure about pickle. Just see how much oil is there in these pickles and you will know why I am fat.
Avakkai pickle recipe or Avakkai manga Urugaai also known as Cut Mango Pickle with step by step pictures. Its also known as Spicy Andhra Avakkaya across India.

For me...i think cutting the junk food off my diet would do the trick...I have stopped the sweets and carbonated drinks as it is. But the junk food craving just won't go away!

based on my experience. metabolism rate decides everything. if you can fix that then the workout and exercise helps. otherwise even with exercise things are going to be hard.

True...help me out I am willing for that treatment...I am 57...cramming in one and a half hour exercise routine in my day's schedule scares me. I mean, right now I can do it. But five or ten years later, unlikely. Then I will gain weight rapidly.

@vandana7 what i did is i am taking her medications.. she told me first excess fat will be removed,.. and weight of around 2-5 kg will be down. then rest is upto me.. so i have like lot of kgs to get down. i'll ask her if she can recommend something for you. considering your age, i don't think the medicine for you and me are going to be any same. plus she checking out heartbeat and weight means she's giving body specific medicines.

depends on the person, but I agree cutting food down but upping exercise can be hard, and make you hungrier. I would perhaps say up exercise and make 1 small change to what you eat (like cut back a soda day or something)

Yes, this is how I felt...when we exercise, and lose some weight, we are automatically motivated to reduce more and can find reducing food a little far more easier.

Ah...that makes sense...instead of avoiding checking my weight, I should avoid checking weighing scale..

Not yet...I don't want to give up on pickles. I feel so sick if I don't eat pickles even one day...it feels like I haven't had meals for ages..lol

@vandana7 Why do you need to give up pickles? Surely they're not that full of calories. Give up something else instead. :)

I eat less than half cup...Will you believe I eat only equivalent of 3 tablespoons full of uncooked rice each day...my culprit is pickle..our pickles drip with oil, and I like it like that...anything less than that, even in vegetables makes me feel I have been hospitalized. I have left fried stuff...not able to leave pickles..

i reckon one needs to adopt a new lifestyle they can live with, so's not to pack the pounds back'n. i've read that'cher quite fond 'f pickles...perhaps make 'em a treat 2-3 times a week? ya need to eat 't least 3 times a day - 6's ideal - small meals so's yer body don't think yer starvin' 't. best 'f luck!

I left cakes, I did not decrease, I left ice creams, I did not decrease. Sugar did not decrease. Stopped snacking...meagre 1 kilo in one month! Sad...I guess it has something to do with my age or genes or hormonal changes. lol

I dont think diet is a good solution for wight loose. I will suggest not to be lazy. If you are not lazy then take about 2kilomitre walk everyday. Your wight will definetly loose.

I agree walking helps to reduce. But there are always times in life when there can be discontinuity...then weight seems to just return with vengeance.

There are a lot of different ways to lose weight, but the real key is keeping it off.

I assume both combined put you in a negative calorie balance. It's important that you only lose a little each week. Stir clear from crash diets.

What you eat is definitely more important than exercise. I work in retail, and consistently walk 25,000 steps a day (the daily recommended about is 10,000). I don't eat bad, but I look more for convince in my food choice than health, and all it has done is maintain my weight. I'm sure if I cleaned my eating up a bit and kept up my normal routine I would start shedding weight.
