What is your favourite cake?

I had to take a picture of this sign, which was at the entrance to our local tea room. What a great way to advertise your cakes! I've got cakes on my mind at the moment. We have a few birthdays coming up over the next few weeks and I have decisions to make about what to make. When I ask people what they want they say, "Surprise me!" I'm wondering, should I attempt another pinata cake or go down the tried and tested Victoria Sandwich route? My favourite cake of all is filled with tangy lemon curd and mascarpone. Not everyone is as mad for lemon as I am though. Sometimes, however, a chocolate cake really hits the spot. What type of cake do you like best?

I really like chocolate cake, if it's not ice cream cake. Lol. I'm a big kid! My favorite chocolate cake is one that KFC sold-not sure if they still do but it was amazing!!

They've been very creative with that sign, I would have bought something just because of it. My favourite cakes are custard doughnuts,

I used to pop into Gregg's on my way to work and buy a custard doughnut and a cup of coffee.

@5thHouse Greggs seem to be everywhere now, don't they? Everything is always beautifully fresh.

Those sound fabulous and the sign is hilarious. My all-time favorite was a cake my aunt used to make. It had a yellow layer with chocolate fudge pecan frosting. Sadly, she has Altzheimers and no longer makes it.

Your favorite sounds delicious. I'm a big fan of lemon anything. As for cakes I can't decide which is a favorite.

What a great sign . . . I know what song that was taken from . . . perfect! I love a good lemon cake - I could go for that! But otherwise I'm pretty simple when it comes to cake - I don't need fancy fillings or icing - I'm a plain vanilla kind of person.

I like light, creamy types of cake. Sometimes I really just want to eat the icing and leave the rest! I like lemony things too.

I agree, sometimes the icing is the best bit.

Excluding cheesecake, it would be a pineapple / coconut flavored cake with cream cheese icing OR carrot cake!

Chocolate cake would be my #1 pick followed by red velvet, then pound cake.
