Tennis elbow

September 5, 2016 7:27pm CST
Has anyone heard of this before tennis elbow where your elbow gets really sore and stiff and just plain hurts I guess I can assume this name was given to this condition because tennis players often got this Im just guessing. Anyway yesterday and some of today my elbow has been that way and it's in the same arm that I have some permanent problem from breaking my arm and dislocating that elbow more than once. I don't know if it's because I've been knitting and crocheting way too much lately but it sure does bother me. I haven't worked on any of my blankets today and it is bugging me. It is feeling a little better. Im so tempted and want to work a little bit on them because Im scared of aggrevating it again and making it flare up bad like last night. I guess I'll try and wait till tomorrow hopefully I can get back to work on them soon. Has anyone else ever had this happened to them?

My mans arm is curved slightly from when it was broken years ago. Apparently when they set it it was rotated slightly so it puts pressure on his elbow and will eventually need a new elbow :-( He has a bone disease so he has a lot of breaks.

@AutumnSnow I have a light case of scoliosis as well it causes my one hip to be a few inches higher then the other and makes them sore at times. I am sorry to hear about your surgeries. I know a girl in her 30s who has a terrible time with it and has had a few surgeries as well. I read an amazing book about a woman living with a terrible case of scoliosis. I read it many years ago so I unfortunately forgot the title.

once in a while that spot just above my left elbow behind my arm hurts a little. i think it's from typing and this non-ergonomic computer setup.

Yes it happens to me sometimes too, especially if I'm on the computer too long. They sell the foam elbow pads these days to avoid the pain, I feel like buying one for myself!

@cahaya1983 if this keeps up I may end up doing the same.

That's the first time I heard of the term. I looked it up and it says it's an inflammation that's typically caused by overusing the muscles of the forearm. So it could be because of all the knitting and crocheting that you've been doing a lot.

I knew that it had something to do with over using a part of your arm.

Heard of it when one of our famous cricketer got it! I was amused to know tennis elbow to one who never played tennis.

I had a stiffness and pain in my elbow last year. I have also had a frozen shoulder, which went on for many months! All my aches and pains are caused by repetitive strain as I spend my whole working life typing. I think you just have to be strict with yourself and make sure you take rests from the activities that are causing the problems. Not always easy though.

No it's not always easy for sure. It's starting to feel a little better I manage a few rows this morning but Im going to try and make myself stop for now then maybe try again later on.
