Been awhile since I was online here in the site. Decided to show up with a post. anyway, already September 6th in my part of the world so I decided to look up some weird September holidays. Not sure if these holidays were seriously celebrated but honestly who cares? I certainly don't! LOL!
To start things, anyone who comments with that line from the Green Day song about waking up after this month gets auto-blocked - for life! Just kidding. Kinda appropriate but kinda jumping the gun, after all, the month just started.
Moving on here is the list that I saw on-line:
September 1 Emma M. Nutt Day
September 4 Newspaper Carrier Day
September 5 Be Late for Something Day
September 7 Neither Rain Nor Snow Day
September 10 Swap Ideas Day
September 15 Felt Hat Day
September 16 Mayflower Day
September 17 National Eat an Apple Day
September 22 Elephant Appreciation Day
September 26 Johnny Appleseed Day
September 28 National Good Neighbor Day
I had to look up who Emma M. Nutt is. Turns out she is the first American woman telephone operator . Of course, fast forward to today and you'll be fortunate to be able to a live breathing person the first time you call the help line of any company! LOL!
Same thing with Johnny Appleseed. I had to look him up. Fine chap he was, based on what I read. Curious though why they didn't celebrate 'Johnny Applessed' Day and 'National Eat an Apple' Day on consecutive days. Any thoughts?
Newspaper carriers are still around but I doubt if they will be in the future.
'Be Late For Something' Day - I'll gladly pass. I hate being late and I value my time a LOT!
'Neither Rain Nor Snow' Day - really can't relate because there is no snow in Manila! Oh the travesty!!! Same thing with the 'Felt Hat' Day . Not my cup of tea, I'm not that fashion-forward when it comes to hats - felt or otherwise!
Looking at the list, I can and most likely will celebrate three holidays - 'Elephant Appreciation' Day , 'National Good Neighbor' Day , and 'Swap Ideas' Day . I'll probably post photos of Dumbo in my Twitter and IG feed, watch the movie 'Neighbors', and swap ideas with you guys here in myLot.
Oh, and wake me up when ... never mind!
Do you have plans of celebrating any of these weird holidays in September? Discuss.

@hereandthere It was interesting when the sailors came into port. They would call the operators and try to make dates. I never did but I can't speak for everybody.

Thanks!
Johnny Appleseed sounds like a character straight from a children's book.

True that!
Kinda miss the 'holiday economics' of a previous President. That was nice as well.

@SIMPLYD holidays are moved to either Friday or Monday to create a long weekend.

I like some of those September holidays. I like eating apples (thank you, Johnny), swapping ideas, and I always appreciate elephants. I always wanted a baby elephant for a pet but it probably would be bigger than my living room and the manager would not believe it is a dog.

You can always try adopting an elephant and hiding it and pretending that it is an over-sized furniture when your manager checks on you!

@akalinus say that all that trumpeting is your stomach and the turds are a result of eating Mexican and Indian food on successive days.

@allen0187 What if the neighbors complain about trumpeting and humongous turds? I live in a trailer park. I live in a matchbox and have a postage stamp size yard.

My neighbors all are helpful and this one is easy. Newspapers are big in the United States and I see people reading them when we travel and many are sold in this area. I'm never late, so its the one I wouldn't do because its important for me to be on time.

Not that I'm aware of. Modern Drunkard Magazine does have a list of a reason to drink for every day of the year, September included!
