Small Barbecue Tragedy

I got sick as a dog over the Labor Day weekend. Not sure what I had, but it involved a fever, a need to sleep a lot, an inability to eat much and what Grandma used to call the backdoor trots. Not only was it unpleasant in itself, but we had to cancel our Labor Day barbecue Sunday. Happily, whatever it was, the dearly beloved doesn’t seem to have caught it.
I’m still sleeping in. I lost three pounds and I still can’t eat at normal levels. And an afternoon nap is a nice thing.
Happily everyone agreed to reschedule the barbecue to some other time. It can’t be this coming weekend, however, because we’d already set that aside for another barbecue with a second group of friends. The two groups don’t talk to each other. (Long story, lots of drama) But even that works out because one of the people in group one wants to go visit a new grandchild out of state and asked us to put the reschedule off.
Geez, ya get sick for a couple of days and the universe just gets out of whack, ya know? *sigh*

Thanks, Janet. I'm already much better. As for dates, it is an annoyance, but no worse than that. This is my friend's first grandchild, and her only daughter, so I can understand her wanting to go see the baby. Frankly, I'm surprised she didn't spend the last six months with her daughter, telling her how to have her baby.
