Have you ever lost your car?

When we were touring Europe last year in our motor-home we drove into Roscoff, France which was the port from which we'd catch the ferry back to Ireland next day. Because the motor-home is quite long, it was always a problem finding a parking spot particularly in some of the little villages. While Roscoff wasn't that 'little', parking seemed to be at a premium and we had to park several streets back from the water-front. We had a great wander round but when we wanted to get back to the motor-home, we couldn't find it. We went back to the water-front and tried again but had no better luck. The third time we watched carefully for anything that we might have remarked on or noticed on the way to the main area and this time we managed to retrace our steps and find the motor-home. It was a huge relief as we were beginning to think we were going to have to go to the police in the hope that they would help us. The harbour was a lovely area with many people enjoying the beautiful day. The tide was out and some of the colourful boats were sitting on their 'bottoms' in the harbour.

What a nice picture here. I've lost my car lots of times in parking lots. Now, with the panic button on my remote its easier to find the car, because when you press that button if sounds an alert. I would have been in a bit of a panic if I were in your shoes and looking for a rather unique looking vehicle and wasn't able to find it.

When you get a car, you'll know to take careful note of where you've parked it!!

Yes, I've misplaced my car many times, usually when I go to Wal-Mart. I remember when I was younger I went to the fireworks at the stadium here with my grandfather. He misplaced the car too and had to wait until all the cars were gone, and the police even gave us a ride over to his car - the only one left in the lot.

It happens all the time. I wish I had a pound for all the times we've gone back to the car park and my husband has said to me, "Where did I park?" Sometimes we walk round for ages looking for the car.

This wasn't in a big parking lot but tucked in a side street some distance from where we walked to. Can you press the alarm on the keys and make the car flash its lights? We've done that once or twice.

@JudyEv I think you can. I seem to remember us doing that but when you're in a really massive car park it can take a while to spot your car.

@JudyEv I usually have to park in the row directly down from the doors or I cannot find my vehicle. It doesn't matter how far down I have to park as long as its in that row that is where I park.

when parking lots are full and if something doesn't stand out then one can lose it. I parked my scooter last week and when went back to it I forgot where I parked and that at first someone took it and then remembered where I parked it.

You wouldn't want to be wandering all over the place looking for it. I guess if you have a scooter you can't walk long distances.

Good that you found it - how long did it take? We went to a baseball game once with our friend - and she drove. Parking at the baseball stadium is a mess - but we found a space and went to the game. When the game ended, we went out to the parking lot, but realized none of us took note of where my friend parked her car - SHE didn't even remember. I think we walked around aimlessly (at night) looking for her car . . . and we finally found it when most of the cars had left (which was about an hour and a half later ). Process by elimiation .

Several years ago, I took my mother to a shopping area and dropped her off at the door of the store she wanted to visit and then I parked in the parking area. When she was ready to leave, I told her to wait by the door while I went to get the car. I KNEW where I had parked it, but it wasn't there. I looked and looked for it and finally walked back to the store and told her that I couldn't find the car. I was also ready to call the police. Then, my husband beeped the horn and I turned to see him in the car by the curb. He had walked from my mother's house, where we were visiting and with his keys had taken the car to run an errand, while we were shopping and then came back to pick us up. I couldn't believe it, because it was quite a distance that he had to walk.

My car is my very first, so I hope it doesn't get stolen. I've only paid half of it, and I still have 2.5 years of payment remaining. I'm glad you found yours. We had moments like that too, when we couldn't find where we parked our car. Thank god we always found our car in the end.
