Day 5 Proverbs 2:10 Proverbs 2:10 When wisdom enters into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; 11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee: 12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaks froward things; 13 Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness; 14 Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked; 15 Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths: 16 To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flatters with her words; 17 Which forsakes the guide of her youth, and forgets the covenant of her God. 18 For her house inclines unto death, and her paths unto the dead. 19 None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life. 20 That thou may walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous. 21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it. 22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it. What is right and what is wrong? When we were young it was easy to see the difference between the two. However, today we see the tables have been almost turned on right and wrong. Those things we were told to stay away from as a child are flaunted in the media, social networks, in conversations we have with our peers, and our children, who really haven’t changed the phrase since we used it on our parents, still utter ‘everyone is doing it’. In response to that my mother would say, ‘If your friend jumped off the bridge would you do it too?’ Solomon paints a picture of right and wrong and what his son should look for, but first he said wisdom must enter his heart and knowledge would then be pleasant to his soul. Once he had wisdom, then he would be able to tell the difference between right and wrong and be able to stay away from it. God’s Word is a compass of right and wrong for our lives. In it we clearly see what God considers right and best for us and when we follow his way, we will never stray too far from God’s law of right and wrong for our lives. I know we will stray. Satan disguises wrong so well that we fall for his schemes, but discernment will lead us right back to the path of righteousness and we will find safety in Jesus’ arms. As Christians, we need to employ the power of discernment in our lives we received from the Holy Spirit when we accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. We also need to be clothed in the armor of God so Satan will be unable to penetrate our defenses because God will be right there to protect us. 1 Corinthians 12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11 But all these works that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. When we use discernment, we will find wisdom right there helping us, along with knowledge and we will always be able to tell the difference between right and wrong, no matter how well Satan has disguised it. Let’s pray: Father, help me discern right and wrong so I will know when Satan is laying his traps for me. Give me wisdom and knowledge so I will always walk the right path of salvation. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 11 September 2016 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay
