He Passed the Test

It was the first time that my son met the parents of her girlfriend, that was during the dinner for her birthday last September 13. Though the girl told my son to invite us too, he did not tell us, maybe he was ashamed or it will be quite awkward for him for us to be around. He gave a bottle of red wine for the girls' father, and my son said the father smiled a lot upon accepting it. My son was advised by his girlfriend what gift to give his father. So when our son came home, I asked if he passed the "test" and he said yes, he thought he made it! Do you also care if the parents of your son or daughter's girlfriend/boyfriend approve of him/her? Or had you experienced such a "nervous encounter?"

I was the same way when it came to my son and his now wife but her family loved him instantly. They couldn't say enough good things about him. It made me feel good. They are married now and he is very close to her family. It is a good feeling. I am glad your son passed the best with the parents. You obviously raised a fine young man.

Thanks,my friend. We are so proud of our children when other people appreciate them for their good character. So nice to know your son had it too, you also raised him well.

Yes, parents now realise that it is important for them to befriend their son's or daughter's girlfriends so they would know them better.

Congratulations to your son. I haven't experienced such a "nervous encounter" because my son is only 3 years old now.

Your son will experience the same when he becomes a teenager or older.

how wonderful such went well. i'm certain that perhaps he thought y'all might be a tad uncomfy meetin' the folks without him doin' such himself yet. glad 't went so well. i think relationships 're best if'n there's approval from all sides - less stress'n the couple.

It so important that both parties like/appreciate each other; the relationship will go strong.

Well, that is certainly something that I will be encountering one day. I too have a son but he is still very young to have a girlfriend. Well, I think when the time comes, I would also be feeling just like how you feel.

It must be quite nerve-wracking for young people to meet the parents of their special friends for the first time. I'm glad he passed the test.

Yes, parents are usually like that, they always wanted their children be appreciated by other people.
