Planners and Journals

Do you keep a daily planner? How about a journal? I've been keeping a journal since 2000 (sometimes more reguarly than others) and I've been trying to keep up with a Happy Planner. Now, since I never go anywhere or do anything you would think that keeping planner woudln't be hard for me, but it is hard for just that very reason. So I've been looking at something called a Bullet Journal. It is sort of a mix of a planner and a journal. You can keep ongoing lists in it and all kinds of fun stuff. So I'm trying to combine some of the elements I like best from the Bullet Journal on grid paper in my Happy Planner. But now I really want a notebook with grid or dot grid paper so I can start trying to do a Bullet Journal.

Does it really help you keep up with things?

@nonersays Yes it does, because I prefer the old instruments to the modern tablets and smartphones.

I used to keep diaries rather than journals but I don't keep either now. I'd start off well each January but make less and less entries as I went through the year.

What I call my journals most people would proably call a diary. I don't do much in mine anymore. I wrote every day for a few years starting in 2000, and slowly got out of the habit. Now I guess Facebook is mostly my journal.

@nonersays I was never one for putting down innermost thoughts etc and a day-to-day diary got pretty monotonous after a while.

When you said Happy Planner, you mean the Happy Planner by Me and My Big Ideas? I have been collecting planners and journals from filofax in different leathers and sizes to Kikki.k, Happy Planner, Midori, and Hobonichi techo. I'm trying out the bullet journal with my Hobonichi techo weeks.

Yeah, the MAMBI Happy Planner. I fell in love with the idea of it, but its mostly still empty after 4 months of use. The one page that has gotten the most use was a bullet journal inspired habit tracker. Id like to get my hands on a Leuchtturm1917 notebook, but might have to settle for a composition notebook with a grid, cause all the pretty ones cost too much. lol

@nonersays try the hobonichi weeks. It's not expensive and it's grid. Plus the paper quality is awesome. You can even water color on it.

It is better to get a plan, but things would change all the time.

True, change happens. But writing things down don't set them in stone, and helps a lot of people remember.
