Canada Geese will all stop and rest together after they fly somewhere. They fly all over the United States. An Adult will mate for life and if their mate dies they will not get another mate. Both parents take part in the raising of their young. They raise them for a year and than off the babies go to make it on their own. The picture is mine.

They are amazing birds. We have a whole field of them behind where I live. They haven't left yet but I suspect the will be leaving soon.

I think because of global warming all the wild life are off schedule. Which is really sad..

@jstory07 Yes it is. The ducks use to leave too but now I see them in the winter time sitting in the snow banks and it breaks my heart.

The geese are starting to fly over here now. Due to our waterway below the property there are scads of birds like ducks and Stilts and yep, geese.

@jstory07 You would enjoy sitting on our patio swing in the evening. I sit and watch the waterway down below, listening to and spotting all the birds and their flight patterns.

Maybe because you do not have wings to fly away.

I think these are Canada Geese, though I'm not certain. If so, they aren't confined to North America as this was taken on the Thames in England.

I do love seeing when the babies grow big enough to go in the water. Dad is in front, babies in the middle and Mom is in the back. So cute.

@jstory07 I've got gulls, pigeons and robins. No geese here. When I lived at my old apartment, I saw hawks. Back in NJ, they were at the local pond.

My daughter loves them . . . and they are much bigger than you think they are when you see them up close!
