Doggy Litterbox?

I thought it was amazing to train my small dog how to use a litterbox! She adapted well , and to make things better she doesn't have to hold it during bad weather or when I'm gone! When I started telling people they laughed, and found it cute. Do you think it's weird? Would you try this method?

So your dog is litterbox trained? I think it's smart for people who live in apartments and have one dog!

I never heard of anyone doing that, but I think it's a wonderful idea! I don't think I'd have the patience to train a dog at all anymore. If I did, yes I would definitely try for that with a small doggie. I think it's a brilliant idea.

Thats what our vet said! They said she's just an over sized cat isn't she? One woman even said I wish I would of thought of that because when her dog was small she wouldn't potty outside

@CinnamonGrl yeah bad weather sucks especially while your standing there like hurry up. But Sarah my dog wouldn't potty outside at all. Only when she came back in. The first week I had her i knew she wasn't going to learn! So when I did switch her to the box, she loved it.lol

Paper can be a good idea but unlike cats they tend to tread in their mess which is then tracked through the house @Bella27 I wish I could teach Ally to use the toilet but I haven't learned the skill required to toilet train a dog or cat for that matter.

Actually I had a friend get a dog last year and her dog was huge. She rescued from a kill place. Long story short she had a empty bedroom and her husband built a sandbox in there and she ran with my idea! I tried to use sand for my dog it didn't turn out well. So I am stuck spending more money on non harmful hamster paper ball bedding as litter. Its basically nothing but balled up tiny newspaper! It works well

I would definitely try it. Going to tell my niece about it. She has a little dog, too.

Yeah everytime you see them having an accident just drop them in box! I had to make sure she would stand in the box for a entire minute each time she had an accident! Eventually she started jumping in, before I knew it maybe two weeks time, she was sliding across the floor running to it.

I have never heard of this before but if it works then why not. It is much better then having the dog going somewhere in the house but nobody is there to let her out. I think it is a great idea.

@Happy2BeMe well I was looking online for doggy litter boxes because as she grew she out grew Her box. I found one that was her size fairly decent price. As I was looking i came across huge litter boxes, but the price on them was pricey! But they do have them for big fellas.

Yeah it ended up being great! She's really good with it. I thought it was good because my bf is disabled and can't take her out, and when I'm gone i didn't want to force her to hold it.

I think I don't need to have this method. My dogs are trained to poops in a certain area in the backyard. But it is helpful to some people.

I think it is a dang good idea @Bella27 . I don't think it would have worked for my 150 pound Akita though.
