Ms. Saigon 25th Anniversary: I loved the new production

New is a relative term here, since the filming of the production was done in London's Prince Edward Theater in September, 2014. Showing it one time only in US theaters is what the show's producer calls the greatest Broadway teaser, referring to the show's theatrical opening at the Broadway Theater in Manhattan in March, 2017. It is a breathtaking and tragic love story of the United States' mistake of interfering in the civil war in Vietnam. Rather than dwell on the plot though, let me say that Philippine born Jon Jon Briones, as the so called Engineer/fixer, bar and brothel runner in Saigon, stole the show. His facial expressions, gestures and wonderful voice made him the focal point (almost). I say that because the woman star (as Kim) is Eva Noblezada, a twenty year old San Diego native who is beautiful, a great actor and sings like an angel. She plays the role originated by wonderful Filipina actor/singer Lea Salonga. There are many other notable actors and performances, but this is getting too long. I will say that there is a CD of the music available by this cast. Even better, after the Broadway opening, at some point, a DVD of the film I saw last night will be available.

How nice. Their voices seem to tell the story doesn't it?

Yes, the music is so moving that my eyes fill. I was listening to some sung by the current cast today on Youtube, and had to stop.

I think it must've been about 1991 I saw this on stage in London. I remember a spectacular scene involving a helicopter.

My mother and I went to London in 1995. I had never seen Miss Saigon, my mother had seen it on Broadway with my younger sister. She got me tickets to Miss Saigon and went to see some other show. It isn't a show that you "enjoy" but you can be awestruck by the singing and the final effects with the helicopter.

@GreatMartin, I did not see it on Broadway, but did see a road company filled with very talented actor/singers do it here in Eugene about 12 or 15 years ago. I too was completely taken with the show and the music.
