I Can Still Practice My Piano

I am quite happy to write that I can still practice my piano right now without those reading glasses that I just bought to hold me until after the next eye surgery. I find the reading not so much fun right now, as I never read with glasses on before. It's a pain in the neck. I just bought some cheap glasses. I have to wait for the next eye to be done before I go and have my new prescribed reading glasses. It's going to be a long month and a half. I still see blurry with my operated eye, can't wait to see perfectly clear, It is supposed to take a few days, can't come fast enough for me. At least the weather is beautiful today.

I thought that having cataracts remove meant that you wouldn't have to have glasses?

Yes, I will not need glasses for far away, but will need reading glasses though.

@amadeo The other way around, it was for removing cataracts and remove my glasses for seeing far away. But then, now I will need reading glasses which I never needed before.

In time your eye will mend. My mother was about a full week before she was able to see well. You're right about the day though, its a beautiful sunny day here too.

@marlina Ohhh, don't feel down. I know that it can take a full 2 weeks for some, but I don't wish that for you by any means. Just take it 1 day at a time, and don't overuse your eyes, she was warned of that by her doctor, and I remember that first 10 days or so we all took turns cooking for her and driving her places.

@Juliaacv Thanks, the doc said I could do whatever I want, but saying and doing are 2 different things.

Thanks for telling me that about your Mom, I feel kind of depressed today, I was hoping to see better already. This little note here will help me to be more patient, thanks.

The good thing is this will make you practice piano by feel . . . and hopefully it's easier on the eyes anyway (just look for the 2 or 3 black keys to know where you're at!). Take it day by day . . . it'll just get better!

My Mom needed almost a full week before she stopped seeing blurry. I know that we cannot wait to see clear. I also needed 4 to 5 days after my laser treatment. I remember I felt depressed.

@LadyDuck I hope that you are right Anna, it is my 5h day today. I am so sick of putting those eye drops in, and not about to be finished. Thanks for the encouragement.

@marlina I know we feel that way. It was what I thought the third day that I had a blurred vision. I think that it's human and normal to feel depressed because we would like to see immediate results.Let rest your eye and in a couple of days you will be fine.

There is no point paying out for glasses just manage with the cheap pair until you get them I got them to make me one with a prescription lens and a plain lens to get me through the month as I need to be able to see for work. It was well worth the £40 for me. I will donate them back to the optician for recycling!

That's nice to know. I love listening to piano instrumental songs like being played by Richard Clayderman but I just don't know how to play it. I know how to play guitar which is self-teach to me but piano is just to hard for me.

I remember when mom had hers done it took a good week for her vision to be clear but after that she couldn't believe how everything looked. She said it was like a whole new world. The colors were so much brighter.

I was attracted to the picture of piano keys. You know, I am not really a pianist but I had studied it during my elementary and high school days. I can still play but only music pieces that are very easy. I haven't played the piano for a very long time already. However, I am playing the organ to accompany our church choir. But I am not the regular organist. But since our organist is getting older, she assigned me to accompany the choir during masses that will be held in the chapels under our parish. Hope your vision will be back to normal again. I'll pray for that.

I never needed reading glasses before but now I do because of the cataract surgery. A pain in the neck.

I'm certain you will be fine in no time. As for the piano, now you made me want to practice some songs. I haven't played it for so long. Do you play classical or contemporary?

Hope it all works well for you and things get clearer- yes, it is annoying when you are used to seeing properly.
