Curious me about hacking issues. I know how a person/entity makes it appear that a bank or paypal has money for you. I get that. But this: a poet gentleman that I kind of know friends me on FB. Fine. Then he messages me. He messages me with Good News. Supposedly my name is on a list .The organization- a part of the government- is giving back money to seniors and the handicapped etc and he supposedly has a hundred thou from it. An agent brought the check to him. My red alert!! went up on reading this. So it looks like a hack to me. Somebody has hacked a message on FB?

I have gotten several of these over the last year or so. They seem to first friend request me. I know them but aren't sure if they are already on my list already so I confirm the request. I should go check but figure they are friending me after not being on their list before for whatever reason. Then they send me this message about getting this money like you speak about. I have gotten probable four or five and just send them a message telling them I am not interesting. I think it is mostly computer generated because the replies are almost for batem what was said in the last one. Weird.

That has happened more than once. I would not respond and would report it to FB. Maybe contact the man and ask about it if you trust him.

If a friend pulled that on me I'd be rid of him or her so fast it'd make their heads spin.

@rebelann His account may have been hacked and he may have nothing whatsoever to do with the message. This is quite common.
