The possession you would want to hold on to

There is always something that your parent or loved one used. It may not mean much to you when you are young. But when they are no more or when you fear they will be no more, you start noticing them. My dad uses a muffler...we don't need it out here, but he still uses it. For some reason that piece seems so invaluable now.... Which possession of your loved ones would bring tears to your eyes.

My late mother gave me a lot of it; from embroidered pillow cases she made; to old coins and purse. I am keeping them because they remind me of her.

I have a few dishes from a beloved set that my Mom had when we were growing up and I cherish them a lot.

I remember some of those things ...still have a jug that dad used to use on table...funny...they have no value for others.

@vandana7 Some people measure the value of things in money and it is good to provide value to the things on how we are feeling about it.

@ajithlal .. I think to an extent we all do, but when we attach value to small things that are of no value to others that we become loving humans ..I think.

Funny...toys and things which are of no value to anybody are still valuable to somebody because of memories.

I have a sari...simple one of my grandmother's, I wear it sparingly. My parents keep giving some small thing which is theirs and everything is so precious because its their gift

My mother's sari for which I had to fight with my sister and the 25 paise coin which my father gave for getting good grade in class test. I know they are of no value but still it brings back sweet memories on one look. Even I have kept a school bag which I used in kindergarten. My husband doesn't value them but my son appreciates them just like me.

That is the difference...some folks do not understand the value. Glad your son sees things the right way.

Most of us are attached to the possessions of our loved ones and do not want to give it away and also think about it. I am also attached to certain possessions. I do think most people do have memories when they see things of their loved ones.

It depends actually. I nag dad about the junk he accumulates. I have become careless too..but I know if it is not cleared on that day and when I sit down to clear it, all my nagging will make me cry. Somethings will make me happy too...

I'm happy with the end tables and TV stand I got from the estate. It does bring them close.

Right now besides photo albums, I don't feel like anything I want to keep. But I know when I start looking through when the time comes, I won't be able to part with so many things. Gah...don't want to be thinking along those lines...
