"Happy wife happy life" is it true??

A bunch of my friends came over with drinks earlier.. After a couple of drinks we started drilling the longest standing couple in our group.. How we're they still together after 8 years and still looking like newlyweds... The guy said "it's because i keep my wife happy" with a very smug druken smile.. So the question arise. . . . . . . Is it true? That the secret to a happy relationship is keeping your woman happy? I mean should't it be a two way thing?

I think it's only part of a relationship. I mean, everyone should make themselves happy, but also keep their partner happy.

Both of them should be happy. But generally it is said that it is hard to understand a woman so maybe that's why it's like that.
