Happy Turkey Day

United States
September 28, 2016 11:25am CST
Yes, you read that right - so you think I've gone off the deep end...turned the calendar to soon - well, I didn't. But what I did to was to buy a three-pound turkey roast at the grocery store this morning. When I got up at six am it was 59 degrees and hasn't warmed up much even though the sun is strong. To me it seems like a good day to roast something in the oven and when I saw the fresh turkey roast I grabbed it. So today's dinner, and you're all invited, will be turkey, mashed potatoes/gravy, corn, dinner rolls and I'll have to come up with something sweet for later. I'm in heaven just thinking of this delicious dinner.... Photo is mine but that's a whole turkey breast I cooked at an earlier time.

Your turkey roast looks delicious, if you want I bring the dessert. What do you prefer? A pumpkin pie, or a Black Forest cake?

The taste of food depends on how you season it. I can make chicken that's bla or chicken that's tasty.

@AbbyGreenhill ....It's hard for me to make it through the year until Thanksgiving without some. I usually have to have a turkey and provolone sandwich sometime to tide me over.

We also through out the year (not for any special reason) will bake or roast a turkey and have the trimmings.

So you are having a practice run for Thanksgiving.

No - probably won't have turkey for that holiday - we like to color outside the box - maybe a prime rib or shrimp dinner.

@AbbyGreenhill Surely the Pilgrim Fathers did not breed cattle or fish for shrimps.

@Asylum That's their problem LOL in my 69 years I've had at least 55 turkey dinners on Thanksgiving and that's enough fowl for anyone.

A 3 pounder . . . I can't recall seeing little whole ones like that . . . I normally see pieces or super big ones which would be way to big for us. Is that available all year where you are? Thank you for the invite . . . maybe I can bring a salad?
