How could one miss

How could one miss seeing a semi tractor trailer rig in the intersection in front of you? I bet the other driver was texting, or they could have had a medical emergency, I guess. Hubby was driving to our shopping town to put gas in my car to start my plans for tomorrow. He was also going to pick something up for me at Wal Mart, and yes, get burgers to eat together when he got back. It took him much longer than I expected. Just before he got to where he was going, the road was completely blocked off. A passenger car had run straight through an intersection into the side of a semi, wedging itself there. No one could get around any way. Hubby watched fire men, police and ambulance crews deal with the wreckage. I am glad he drives a little under the speed limit, and very carefully. He says he missed the scene by merely minutes.

@cacay1 I have looked for news reports and have not found anything about it. I am hoping it looked worse than it was.

I hope to learn on the news what they know about the accident. The entire errand should have taken an hour and a half, but it ended up about two and a half hours due to traffic around the accident.

A family friend last year was killed by a texting driver. It was a 20 something girl texting on her way to class.

This is scary, yesterday a big truck on the freeway has killed a family of four. He was speeding and the driver did not stop when the car has to make a full stop to pay at the toolbooth.

The toll booth is pretty dangerous. They have improved safety over the years but I remember trucks sometimes crashing into toll booths and killing the workers. It is very sad that an entire family was killed.

@GardenGerty Yes, it is horrible, the problem here in Europe now, is caused by the truck drivers coming from the Eastern countries. To make more money, they drive for 13 hours without stopping, they drink and then they cause fatal accidents.

it's scary when you come across something later and realize a few moments sooner and you would have been IN whatever it was

I have checked the papers online and found nothing. I wonder if there would be anything in the hard copy. I even checked some news stations.

It's a good thing that your hubby was driving with discipline, or he could have been into this mess.

I did not hear any news reports or read about any fatalities, so maybe it looked a lot worse than it was.
