The Contagion (2016)

No, it's not another apocalyptic movie where the world's population is decimated (or worse) by a new strain of virus that was secretly created in a government lab. But, it feels like it. In truth, I just have a cold. But, it feels like an end-of-my-world movie. For one thing, I was just minding my own business. I haven't been out and about, and no one I know has a cold. The first I heard of any illness was the other night when The Girl asked for the thermometer. Her temp was normal. Still, she was sure she was dying. But nearly as soon as she started complaining, my right nostril closed up entirely and my throat got scratchy. The next morning, I felt hot. I took my temperature, it was normal. Still, I was sure I was dying. It was bound to happen, school started last month. Only a matter of time before a school germ made its way home to me. It's interesting to me that I can bear any other kind of discomfort, but a cold turns me into a big, whiny baby. It turns me into a big, leaky germ with a red nose. Like a contagious elf. Have you had your October cold yet?

Sorry about your October cold. No I usually do not get colds very often, I have enough other problems without this one.

For some reason, I can put up with other ailments much better than I do having a cold. Thank goodness you don't get them often.

@Rollo1 I would rather have a cold than having what I have.

This was written ages ago so I hope you've been well and truly over your cold for some weeks. My nose runs like a tap when I get a cold but I rarely get a cough.

Stay away from me! Seriously, I hope you are doing better today. It's hard when one person in the household gets it . . . that just means everyone is bound to get it. And with moms, you have to take of everyone no matter what - even if you feel like you're dying. At the moment, I am just knocking on wood.

I am so sorry, I hate to be sick and I hate to have a cold. I am fine for the moment, but my nose is cold, I hope it's not a start.

You sound like a man! When a man gets a cold, it's the end of the world, he's dying, he needs to be babied and taken care of, and he can't function. When a woman gets a cold, she shrugs it off, as women are the much tougher of the two sexes. Not downplaying how you feel with your cold (I can relate, as I just got over a cold), but you have to laugh and admit I'm right that us men are the biggest babies when we get sick! lol Anyway, I hope you feel better soon and get through this cold quickly!
