No Peace for the Wicked

I recall my mom uttering the phrase "no peace for the wicked" on most Sundays when something or other would stir her sleep and the only option was to get out of bed and see to the problem. Well this morning I heard myself sound like my mom, the cats had no mercy and were insistent on waking me up to feed them. Grrrrrrrrrr Like two living, walking alarm clocks - with NO off button! Did you know that the Greeks invented the alarm clock as well? I wonder what their take is on CATS? Happy Sunday - this is me coming from a very early morning coffee in bed iPad.

The modern Greeks or the ancient Greeks? Do tell us about it.

Ancient Greeks, the engineer and inventor Ctesibius around 220 BC, he fitted an elaborated alarm system to his clepsydras.

@MALUSE The ancient Greek water clocks. I think that this image is better than a description.

Our cat Smooch has the same attitude to life. Dare I mention rugby here?

You may - Your Nation is No 1 in the world on the Rugby charts and why not - they play superbly - That is a position that requires a team to work toward, it doesnt come easy. So its a cat thing - the alarm bells?

You should exchange them for mute cats.

Now we know who to blame for alarm clocks. I remember Katarina wrote about the cats in Greece.

@Inlemay I think that is a quote from Bible? Good one.But I think this one is also good.“No rest for the wicked, no peace for the good.” by James S.A. Corey, Abaddon's Gate

I would prefer a cat than the sound of an alarm clock. I set my clock every evening but I always wake up before it starts.

@Marty1 I use a normal alarm, I do not keep electronics in the bedroom, my husband is sensitive to the radiations they emits.

@inlemay you've reminded me of these delicious words from a hymn. Dull sloth is a wonderful phrase! Awake, my soul, and with the sun Thy daily stage of duty run; Shake off dull sloth, and joyful rise, To pay thy morning sacrifice

We might need an alarm clock in two days when we need to be out at the airport at 5.30am.
