Doctor's Appointment

About a month ago I went to my Gastro doctor for my annual check up. I have a medical condition that will be with me for the rest of my life. Not too happy about that. In the last year I had gone through two medications and was about to start the third. Now I have the follow up about the new medication in about an hour and a half. I'll be starting a fourth medication. I hope that one works as nothing else has yet. My body simply doesn't like medication. I was told there isn't a supplement solution for what's wrong with me. I sure wish there was because I'm not having any trouble with the supplements I'm taking for my arthritis or my headaches. My knees feel almost like new and my headaches are almost a thing of the past. However, such is not the case with the medical condition I have that has me feeling discouraged today and hope there will be some good news when I go to the doctor. I also didn't get into the pool this morning, not because of the appointment, but because I've been in the bathroom a lot throughout the night and this morning. So hopefully I'll get there tomorrow. So I'm discouraged on a couple levels today. I just hope there will be good news at the doctor's office. When I got the new medication the pharmacist told me it took about a week to work. It's been a month or almost and still not working. I wonder how many more options there will be for medication for my condition. I hope your day is going well. I'm hoping to get a lot of notifications done today. I'm working on October 5 at the moment. Thanks for reading.

hiI hope your new medication works for your gastric problem. I remember all too well when I was given Ava ndia for my diabetes tjhe side effects really messed me up first side effect it leaches calcium from your bones, second its been known to cause anemia' so I had a bad fall, broke my shoulder actually smashed the shoulder joint when they went to do surgery to replace the joint I showed up wth anemia so had to have a blood transfusion so now I have a steel and plastic shoulder joint and only twenty percent usage of my left arm not so good.

@just4him sometimes the side affects, well often so, are way worse than the condition they are treating. I will give you some things you HAVE to take meds for, but some of those conditions are simply not that big of a deal

I hope so too and not something that will put me in my grave. I cringe at all those commercials when they start telling you all the side affects.

I've been on a few for my colitis sometimes its other things not the medication. I found if I limit stress and avoid certain foods.

I have ulcerative colitis. I'm now three meds down and wondering what the next step will be.

@just4him What meds were they?. I have had colitis for about 10 years now. It was hard at first until it got undercontrol. I found having a period (with the endometrosis) flared the colitis up the most. But now Ijust have to watch, the odd time I have issues but am not on the meds.

@ricki_911 The first was Prednisone, didn't work. The second was Arisdo or something like that - took four a day, didn't work. Now they have me on Uceris - had to get insurance okay on that one, doesn't work. So we'll see what happens next.

I don't know how many different pills I have tried for my stomach, but nothing seems to work either. A real pain.

Sometimes it's hard to find the right medication for any condition but hope that you can find one that works. I hate taking medications so I can relate. By the way, what natural methods are you using for your knees? I'm looking for something to help me with mine

TriFlex from GNC. It really works. I could feel the difference the first time I used it. I even have the supplements in my pill tray so I don't miss taking them. I can even tell when I've missed taking it and the Feverfew for my headaches. Both work wonders. GNC always has offers you can take advantage of so you can get a decent discount on the supplements. If you sign up for the Gold Card, you will always get a good discount on top of what the store is offering, so it's well worth it.

I don't like prescription meds either. Too bad there isn't something natural you can take for it. Is your doctor saying there isn't, or have you contacted an herb shop to ask? My mom does have a couple prescriptions but uses herbs for everything else.

Both. The doctor said it can't be treated with supplements and I talked to a couple people who are heavy into supplements and they said there isn't anything for it either.
