Love My New Halloween Mug

United States
October 15, 2016 10:18am CST
A bonus while at the thrift store yesterday was I spotted this cute mug for $1.16. I will enjoy my morning coffee in it until Halloween and probably a few days afterwords. I love special mugs and always try to bring a new one home. The downside is I am awash with mugs. I find them hard to get rid of because I only buy them if I love them. I have to think of a good way to use them when I'm out of room on the shelf above the coffee pot. Currently they are moved to a Hoosier cabinet I brought from Ohio that is on my patio. I always plan to rotate cups but that rarely happens. Any suggestions?

@Jeanniemaries not really - but we have a few stores that sell the hats and sweets, but its not celebrated like it is in America - no children are ever involved. they would be Adult parties

@Inlemay This is why I like myLot and postcards. I often forget that holidays are different in other countries.

I am also the owner of a large selection of mugs. For several years I always booked self catering holidays because the ease of making a coffee and toast in the morning was a bonus. Sadly most self catering apartments supply teacups, so I always went out and bought a souvenir mug. This meant that I could enjoy a decent sized coffee, but I also accrued a vast number of mugs.

Yes, I often rent a condo and the mugs are always tiny and boring. I did buy a Disney mug last month while on vacation for that very reason!

@Jeanniemaries When I retired a couple of years ago I had several self catering holidays, so rapidly amassed mugs. I do like your Halloween mug.

I did enjoy my morning coffee today! I'm glad I found it so early! There are more than two weeks to go before Halloween is over.

i used 'em fer holdin' wee schtuff (buttons...), pens/scissors, rulers (the big mugs) 'n the hubs growin' collection 'f drill bits (that he fergets to take outta his pockets'n they get washed. i used to've quite the massive collection 'f coffe mugs myself 'n finally whittled 'em down (we don't drink coffee 'n i wash dishes by hand so jest a couple mugs suit 's jest fine) 'n donated 'em - some to the women's shelter, others to the mission. they do make cute lil planters if'n ya can find a pot (with drainage) that'll fit 'nside. i've e'en used some through the years to grow herbs'n the windowsill.

I rarely find the Halloween ones! I've only seen one before and my mom bought it. Unfortunately I dropped it when I got it home and broke it. I never told my mom and she never noticed she didn't have it.

I pick up magnets and postcards. Only occasionally do I buy a mug. I did pick up an Alice in Wonderland mug at Disney World last month though!

You could store your seasonal mugs with your seasonal decorations......I had to do that when I bought a set of Christmas dishes, and the glassware and the special serving pieces including mugs......

That's true. I do have a tub with just fall decorations and I do that for my Christmas mugs.

If a friend comes over for coffee, and there's a mug they really like, let them take it home with them!
