It was a box of chocolates moment

A friend of ours has a big pickup. He sits too much alone, zoning in front of the TV, smoking weed cause he doesn't want to think about his screamy back. Every so often hubby calls him up and asks him if he would mind helping us bring home lumber. Last Sunday he did. He drove out to our place and hauled all of us to Home Depot for long boards. (Hubby has another shed project in mind.) My left hip and right side sciatica plus the knees issue do not allow me to just hop into tall pickups. No and no. I grabbed hold of the dash grip and managed to get in the cab. Getting out? That was frightening. Hitting the sidewalk is a hard smack where it hurts the most. Hubby came right around and put his arms out. I practically fell into his embrace, leaning on his shoulder. I joked about me being rather large for this trick but he said no. He could handle it. It was a deeply warm moment. A I give a dang! second. Tons better than all the flowers or chocolates a guy could grab from a shelf.

@Happy2BeMe Part of this is cause when I was a kid I did fall once. I was getting out of the school bus, heading to the building and hit a slick of ice. My brother was there but he did not bother to help me. One of his buddys helped me up. Good old Stan. My brothers never helped me but there was Stan. Having my husband raring to ensure my health and welfare were in good order helps me over that girl time bump.

@Rohvannyn Dad is determined that he is 5'9. I don't say anything to the contrary.

@sallypup Oh, I haven't. Besides, nothing wrong with it, we belong together with our range of heights. We're better in foreign cars, that's all.

@Jessicalynnt With my knees it felt like I couldn't slide. Nothing to grab in front of me and the possibility of me hitting the ground cause my knees would not take the final bend.
