One of Those Days (A Poem)

One of those days
Where everything went wrong
Made for a very
Distressed song.
Alarm didn't go off.
My hair was a mess.
It looked like it was inhabited
By birds in a nest.
The eggs were too watery.
The bagel was as hard as a rock.
And my blueberry pancakes
Had the flavor of a sock.
The car wouldn't start.
My battery was dead.
And I walked into a wall
And bumped my head.
My boss said, "You are late to work."
He made me feel like a king sized jerk.
The copier jammed.
The coffee spilled on my pants.
And the wicked old witch
Said a raise, "Not a chance."
My fiscal report
Was due tomorrow.
I hadn't begun working on it
Much to my sorrow.
Finally, I got home.
The dinner was cold,
And I felt very, very old.
My nose was runny,
My cough came back.
And I was afraid I'd have
A heart attack.
Yes, this was a day
That was made in hell.
Don't bother me tonight.
I plan to sleep well.
Well actually that's not true,
But frankly i'm tired of singing the blues.
