Compulsory Schooling

There are some who claims that compulsory schooling destroys individual freedom. Do you think compulsory schooling should be diminished?

No, education should be compulsory, as education is fundamental to society. There are too many people who would simply not educate their children if it was not required, and at least a basic education is needed to function as an adult in society. Given what I see on the internet and online on a daily basis, I can't imagine how it would be if some of the seemingly horribly uneducated people I come across didn't go to school at all. At a previous job, I found people I worked with who did not understand fractions and decimals, could not answer things like "If there is a bottle of 100 pills and there are 60 in the bottle, how many tenths is it?" (Yes, I made it that easy after they couldn't figure out more difficult numbers). That is third grade math. Well, maybe education doesn't make a difference after all....
