Can't I just submit without a bio?

I am not a fan of biographies. If I want my poetry included in the anthology then I must sit down and figure out something to say. About me. Groan. I am not a braggart. I do not boast. I did it. I sat down. I stared at the keyboard. One letter at a time, a bio emerged. I decided to state a fact: I have been published in a few other places. I decided to list two and keep it at that. I also stated that my latest chapbook is on Amazon. Good enough. Solid and done. Time to breathe again.

I often mention something odd, like I love cheese, spending time my dog(s), etc. But speaking about oneself is hard, might be easier to have someone ELSE write such a thing. Hmm, there might be a good mylot post, ask others to summarize us, lol

@Jessicalynnt I'm not sure that writing "I am a sugar addict" would look good in a literary anthology.

@sallypup "She enjoys the sweeter things in life, from a fine chocolate, to a loving moment with her friends and family."

@Jessicalynnt Sounds good but its not true. I went cold turkey on all things sugar and I would leave out the family bit. You're a great writer.

I have a bio for you on my site, if you ever need another one I'll send it to you. I'm glad you wrote one, though - they are surprisingly hard, though I've written a couple of my own now too.

@Rohvannyn I found the act of writing a bio a moment in which to reflect. Some of the bios were pretty long. I wanted something sucinct and straight forward. And positive. So I put in that I was born in Whatcom and then listed a couple of the pubs that my work is in. All in less than five sentences.

I am glad that you came up with things to write about yourself.

It does seem that every publication wants one. Where did you submit?

@JamesHxstatic Clover, a Literary Rag. Folks from all over have their work in it.

I never like providing on myself or posting a photo. It's supposed to be about what we write.

@JohnRoberts I agree. I wonder how many folks bother to go to the back of the book and read the bios?
