Anything but White

@DianneN I really like the way that looks, I think I am going to go this way when we paint the living room again. I have high ceilings and triangle windows, so it will look similar.

@mom210 Thank you. I've since heard that painting the ceilings the same as the walls in large, high ceiling rooms is the way to go. Who knew? Lol! You must post a photo of your triangle windows. How unusual!

Yes, white needs constant refreshing to look clean and pure.

That sounds sunny and bright. I love yellow with white trim.

@DianneN My kitchen has 14 foot ceiling so I will have to consider it when I repaint.

I hesitated when the decorator suggested it. I will have to see how it all comes together when the furniture arrives. This is our only room with high ceilings, besides the stairway. Lol!

@DianneN I'm looking forward to reading your posts with some pictures of the "new room" just as things get completed. I love projects, so instead of starting any here, I can live vicariously thru your posts!

Yes, all white ceilings seem to be the norm. Our painter told us that he has been painting colored ceilings in some of the big, new houses going up. One female doctor built a 8000 sq. ft house with 24 foot high ceilings. Can you imagine? Our new bathroom is painted a soft green, the powder room is white with wallpaper trim, and our bathroom is all white. Everything! That way I can play around with pretty colored towels, even white ones. I need more houses. Lol! Thank you. I hope the furniture looks good with this color.

@miniam We papered my older son's big boy bedroom in our first home. This house has wallerpaper above the wainscoting in our dining room and wallpaper trim where the wall meets the ceiling in our guest bedroom and in our powder room.

White is all I have ever had, except for some wallpaper.

@DianneN I coild never find some good wallpaper so my walls have always been white

Our paint is just a number on the can, but it looks like a light taupe. You can see the new paint in my photo.

@DianneN It DOES go with anything! But I say sigh because we've been wanting to work on this place ourselves - and we just never seem to have time to get to those projects. Well, we did finally paint the outside of the house last December - much easier to just hire someone .

No need to sigh. All of my ceilings here and in Florida are white. Most walls, too. I like the clean look and white goes with anything. Lol!

All of ours are white, but this one. It takes some getting used to.

Just as long as it looks good and you are happy, is all that counts.

I've been trying to picture the furniture in there. I do believe it will work better than white. I'll get back to you in a couple of weeks. Lol!

@DianneN yes,many older homes have this.Victorian house also.this was very popular in that period.

That would be a lovely idea! When we are in Florida, the ceilings, which are white, look blue from the reflection of the sun on the water. It's so soothing.

Light colors do tend to make a room look larger and brighter, just as light colored clothing makes me look larger. Lol!
