Setting up a YouTube Channel

Wish me luck today. I’m going to tackle another social media tool. I’m going to set up a YouTube channel to promote my new book, Free College: Awareness (This is the final title, after going through about ten others). I’ve learned that the aspect of social media that makes the most difference is when it’s visual. That’s why the foray into YouTube. I read a few articles and watched a few videos, and discovered that the sound quality would be best if I was willing to spend a little money. So I did. Yesterday I bought a Blue Yeti microphone. In the videos I watched, it seemed easy to use, created good quality sound, and didn’t cost an arm and a leg. My first video is finished. It wasn’t difficult to create, since I used an article that I wrote earlier for my website. I made some improvements, added visuals and will add the audio after I set up my channel on YouTube. Any tips for this rookie?

I wonder how you will make yourself known among the zillions of youtube videos. I wouldn't know how to go about this.

A video may be found by searching for certain aspects, after which someone could locate the channel by the screen name used to view others. Of course there is a vast amount of competition out there.

@MALUSE The same way in which anything is found online, people search for YouTube videos on that subject.

@Asylum 'may be found' --- that's the vital point. Or it may not be found. How do you start in order to be read by the target audience?

First you sign up, then you make a video, and upload it. Easier done than said.

@celticeagle Thanks. I have plenty of material, so once I have a system, I'll crank out ten or so. That's enough.

It's called Free College: Awareness. I show parents, grandparents and anyone with Pre-K through 11th grade students how they can become the ideal college scholarship and grant applicant.
My newest book, Free College: Awareness identifies the actions necessary to become the ideal college scholarship and grant app...

I look forward to checking out your channel and reading the comments below. I have been busy most of the day, and have some work I still need to do on another website. However ... your site is on my list.

@ElizabethWallace - I understand completely. There are so many things we can potentially do to improve our social media presence, etc. However, there just aren't enough hours in the day to do it all!

@DeborahDiane Nor is this necessarily the best use of our time. I think it's best to do a few things well, rather than many poorly.

There is so much to do. I unsubscribed from two guys who had lots of great info. It was too overwhelming. I'll do what they suggested, and when I have time, learn something else.

I always wondered about people setting up You Tubes channels. I would be interested to know how it goes for you like how many views and earning any money. Post updates on your progress.

I will, and I know people make money from the videos, but my goal is to promote my book, Free College: Awareness, so people don't graduate with student loan debt.

I have submitted a few home made videos to YouTube, but to be perfectly honest I cannot even remember how I uploaded them.

So far so good. Sure beats watching TV. Hopefully, I'll make enough money to cruise when I'm not putting on seminars.

@ElizabethWallace Here's a guy who has been doing what you're starting to do for many years - he's Swiss, but lives in CA now - here is a sample of his recent work, and I know he has some videos of thr set-up he uses to make all the videos he has on his YouTube channel - if it helps! Good luck again!

You can't find my channel, College Scholarship Secrets until I upload a video. Hopefully by this Friday. After that, just search the name of my channel, it should take you right there. The first video is named 3 Steps to Earn an A. I think I'm going to use the number 3 in all my titles, just for fun.
