One benefit of being transgender

On the way home yesterday I popped in to a shop I don’t normally go to, and found myself waiting at the checkout of a person who I concluded must be transgender. At first the shape of her face and hands gave the impression of a man with a particularly trendy haircut, and her deep voice could have been either a man’s or woman’s, but her mannerisms were those of a woman – and in any case her name badge proclaimed her female gender (the same name as me, incidentally). I also noticed her feminine upper figure, which looked particularly youthful. Later it dawned on me – of course! Transgender women have the advantage there, because while the rest of their body has been aging since birth like all the rest of us, their breasts are much younger! This woman must have been in her fifties, but had the pert bosom of a teenager. Gravity had not yet exerted its effects in spite of her age. I don't have a suitable photograph to illustrate this so I'll go with a perfect rose! All rights reserved. © Text and image copyright Fleur 2016.

When a man changes from male to female he can't get rid of his Adam's apple or man's hands. You can nearly always tell.

Yes I think hands can look a bit odd, like they are to large for the person.

@BelleStarr Yes and that's one of the less gruesome parts!

Pertness and youth go hand in hand, I guess. I doubt I'd have been as observant.

@Fleura I fish through my wallet, looking for any tokens I may have overlooked... then unloading the cart onto the band, always busy at the checkout. Ignoring the candy bars beside the checkout, of course...

There's not a lot to do when you're waiting at a checkout ; )

low voice isn't always an indication..my voice is very low due to having my thyroid irradiated as a teen.

Yes as I say in the post, her voice could have been either a man's or a woman's.

I hadn't really thought of it, but it does make sense, when you put it in those terms. I can't really comment, as I don't have personal experience on the subject.

I can almost always tell if someone is a transgender. In our days there are many women who ask for a little "lift" of their upper figure. This is not something I would like to do, even a small surgery is always surgery.

@Fleura I am against plastic surgery to look younger, after all it's better to be healthy and not to feel the age.

hands and the Adam's Apple are usually the strongest clues

I have not run into a transgender person yet, I've only seen them on TV. Good description of what he/she looked like!

We ran into one who worked with my hubby. She introduced herself as the former man he knew. He was stunned. I loved her earrings. Lol!

I had seen transgender women who look so beautiful, you can hardly tell they were men.
