Today I go to Pulaki Temple with my school groups. It is a Hindu shrine located in the hill bank with beautiful beach just in front of the temple located in north part of Bali island. This temple is set on the flat land with stone hill bank as a back drop meanwhile the blue ocean is just in front of the temple. There are holy group of monkeys living around the temple. I was talking with some of my students, and didn't realize that some monkeys were spying us. All of a sudden, one of the monkey leapt and grabbed my plastic bag with flowers inside it. I was so shocked with that incident! That 'little thief' then jumped and climbed up the tree with the plastic bag. Can you find groups of monkeys in your place? Are you afraid of them?

That really was a cheeky monkey. We don't have them here, but one jumped on my head when we were in Gibraltar.

Aw! It must give you a great shock! Why did it jump on your head? Did you bring any food with you? Perhaps it actually wanted to steal your food?

We sometimes get escaped monkeys here in Florida but I have never personally seen one here. We had one on the run for four or five years. He was called the mystery monkey because no one knew where he came from. Authorities were chasing him and he would just run up another tree and swing through the trees and escape. They finally darted him and put him in a zoo with other monkeys.

@Ayuriny It was a Rhesus monkey that escaped from someone who was keeping it. They were chasing it for about four years. It finally bit a lady in her yard. The authorities shot it with a tranquilizer dart. Now, he lives with other monkeys. I heard rumors that there is a certain girl monkey that has caught his fancy and they are monkeying around together. But, shhh! Don't tell anyone. That would be gossiping.

When you mention 'the mystery monkey', it makes me a bit shudder. Was the monkey different with the other monkeys kept in the zoo? Well, they might live somewhere in the forest near your place.

We can only see the monkeys in the zoo. It is not possible for us to see any animals in usual besides cats, dogs and birds. When I travelled and hiked in Singapore, there was a warning for the travellers not to bring the plastic bags with them. At least they should not take them out. I saw one monkey robbed and stole a plastic bag of food from a traveller so quickly

@Ayuriny Then you shall remember it well. When I had a meal in the hiking zoo restaurant in Singapore, sometimes I felt like eating secretly I always put everything inside my bag and I carried it on my back all the time

@youless haha! It's very reasonable to do. When you're careless, the monkey could possibly rob your bag, and you wouldn't have any food to eat.

Yes! I was so shocked, but had no courage to scream. ... There are no monkeys in your country? Or they are kept in an animal shelter?

I've only seen then behind bars in zoos. I would love to see them in the wild, and after reading this, I doubt I would carry anything..Were you afraid or just startled?

Both afraid and startled for a while because it happened very quick and unpredictably. Yes, better be careful when carrying anything when visiting certain place where groups of monkeys exist. You know, monkey is a naughty wild animal.

Monkeys are really naughty. I haven't had any close encounter with a monkey.I have seen one in school and one in the neighborhood but i never got to interact with them.

A few black-faced, long-tailed monkeys regularly visit our village. As Hindus respect them because of their resemblance with the god Hanuman they are not driven away.

Exactly. Here we respect the monkeys as descendants of Lord Hanuman's troops. Therefore, anyone of us may not disturb or hurt them.

I had this experience many times. Whenever I visit a temple I will be a little bit careful about the monkey.
