My new 17 inch Dell was to arrive today. Normally UPS shows up around 5:30 or so....not today - he was here about 11 am and with my commuter in hand. First I opened the box just to make sure it was all there and in perfect condition - it was and I put it in another room figuring I'd play on it tomorrow... Well, that lasted ten minutes and I finally set it up and dove in. I got more accomplished than I thought I would. I did manage to get on Facebook and my e-mail. But there is so much that is different from Windows 7 to Windows 10 that it will take me time. I have a computer guy coming one day - hopefully this week - so he can transfer all my stuff over and fine tune things for me. I've used him for several years and I trust him (more than I trust myself) to get it right. So for now it's just an ornament - a very pretty one I might add. It is red but not showing up a true red in the photo. Photo is mine, obviously.

I dread the time when I will need a new computer and will have to re-learn things. Good luck with yours.

@infatuatedbby Yes, it's red - the lights in that room have a yellow cast. That's part of the laundry room

For the moment only my husband has a Windows 10 installed on a laptop, I still use Windows 7 both on my laptop and desktop. For the moment I do not want to change.

@AbbyGreenhill I know, but if I have to change I am going to install a Linux system, if I have to learn something new, I want to get rid of Microsoft.

I didn't want to change, but they will soon stop supporting 7 which will lead to issues.

@AbbyGreenhill I think it's very unfair when they stop supporting the old systems.. I'm still using XP ... when this computer goes... I'm going to go to a Big android tablet...

My computer expert is a former pupil from the school I taught at. He knows what to do. I don't want to learn to do things myself. He gets some money for his work and we're both happy.

@MALUSE, I am like you, I don't want to learn anything anymore for my computer, so I have a very nice Korean guy who does the work for me and he is very affordable.

If it was just a new laptop and keeping Windows 7 then I would do it all myself...but the difference is huge right now to Win ten.

I have always considered 15 inch to be the ideal size for a laptop because larger ones are not as practical as portable devices. I also find setting up a new laptop to be quite laborious. They always preinstall many third party utilities that I do not want, plus trial versions of Microsoft Office and antivirus.

@AbbyGreenhill I usually remove all unwanted junk, install my own programs and configure the computer to my own preferences. Next I create a full hard drive backup to store externally.

@Asylum I've removed junk, I don't keep too much junk on my computer - I'm too organized in real life to collect junk on here. The rest the guy will take care of. I sit next to him and tell him what I want and he suggest things.

Yes, a lot of difference. But, I now can't remember how to navigate through WIndows 7. Enjoy! I am trying to make my laptop last until 2019 and then get another new one. My anti-virus expires then.

@AbbyGreenhill ....Yes, I do now. Didn't in the beginning though. And, I feel there are a few glitches but nothing too catastrophic.
