I Missed a Good Time

My older son's mother-in-law was thrown a surprise birthday party last Saturday. I was invited, but couldn't attend.
It was a tea held at her friend's golf club. She was very surprised, since her birthday isn't for several more days.
What do you get a woman who has everything? She had been shopping with a friend and loved a necklace she coveted. So, I chipped in with everyone and the necklace was her gift. She was thrilled! My name was written on the birthday card. Easy breezy peasy for me!
I missed a great time, but was so happy to see that my granddaughter, who loves going to tea and loves birthday cake, was interested in hanging out with the ladies and her doll.

I have had to miss several events due to work or other commitments. Not easy to be in 2 places at the same time. At least you were able to pitch in toward a gift that she will cherish forever.

@DianneN feels so good to have the internet back. But, I have promised myself that I won't sit for hours with the laptop. I have projects to tend to. Our home is still not settled. Have a lot more work to do on it. And just when we think we are getting ahead and ready to buy materials for this place, we get blindsided by something that needs our attention! We have had our vehicles breakdown and we have had our hours cut back a couple of times. I am ready for things to swing upward again!!
Hope all is well with you and your family Dianne!

@ElusiveButterfly I'm glad you are settling well into your new home. I haven't been on much in the last 8 1/2 weeks. My hubby had neck surgery and still can't lift his arms much.

I'm sorry you couldn't go but glad she liked the gift you all gave her! Hopefully next time you will be able to go when something is being celebrated.

It would have been too long of a day to leave my husband alone. She lives 50 minutes from me, not counting Saturday traffic. I have no idea where the golf club is, either. My granddaughter has a lifelong habit of checking out all cakes!

Indeed when we get to give a gift to someone who has everything , we know that it's better that the friends chip in so they can buy a gift that we know she she will truly appreciate .
You granddaughter looks so happy with her doll . And look at that cake , it seems so delicious and inviting .
